Two Spirits by Kiernan Kelly
I will never see again a John Wayne's western without thinking what all those cowboys make under the star in the praire when no women are around... Toby is a newspaper writer who is sent in the far west to write about the golden mine in California. Unfortunately the stagecoach in which he travels got an accident and he is the only survivor. He is saved by Buckshot, a Texas Ranger who is on the chase of a vicious murdered.
They pair up and arrive at Golden, a small town far from everywhere.
Toby has ever hiddened his true interest in guys over girls. When he was teen, his dad has beaten him almost dead cause he was found jerking off watching a worker of the farm. So now he thinks that every man he could approach probabily will shot him.
Instead Buck has no problem with the "man" matter. When you are alone with only men and no women in sight, where is the problem if you find some relief with your partner? But Buck is not only the first who takes the moves for sex, he is also the first to speak of love. He is a beautiful character, strong and solid like the a very old cowboy even if he talk a bit more.
So our two unlikely partners became lover and maybe their love is a written on the star...
Kiernan Kelly manages to write a tender love story with a suspence plot. In only 140 pages you will find every right details for a good old western tale less the heroine... but this is an insignificant particular when you have two hot men!
