Child of Light (Prophecy 1) by F.E. Heaton
Prophecy is a young vampire holds like a tresure by her family. She isn't allowed to go hunting alone, but one night she managed to escape. And after her first killing she meets Valentine, a vampire of the Family enemy of her own. Valentine is immediately attracted to this young woman and couldn't obey to the order to kill her. Instead he kidnaps her and the two begin a journey all around Europe.
Prophecy is reckless and rush, she is too young for thinking before acting. Valentine is more wiser, but he is not an impositive character, he not overwhelms Prophecy.
The atmosphere is gothic, also for the chose of the characters, but also for the setting (like Prague). The imaginary is vivid and original. The novel is long but manages to hold you till the end. And it is not an end, cause the story of Prophecy and Valentine continues in the next installment "Caelestis & Aurorea", just out.
In a paranormal panorama who has witnessed all, the first novel by F.E. Heaton still has a savour of freshness and originality.
