From This Night by L.E. Bryce

In a fantastic world (very similar to a medieval era) Alasson and Suryo, the boys, were betrothed before their born. Suryo's father has sworn in front of the gods that he would give his first born to Alasson, he has never specified his first male born, and so now to accomplish the gods, Alasson and Suryo has to marry, if only for one year. But they have to consumate the marriage.

Alasson is only worried of the mockery of his brothers, instead Suryo fears what he will do when the year is over. A normal life for him will be impossible. But time pass and Alasson and Suryo see their friendship becomes something more and discover that it could be love also between men. But the end of the year is near...

This is a rather sad novel. Maybe very true, for as true could be a fantastic tale. But L.E. Bryce has not allowed herself to see through the story with pink lenses glass. And also in the end will leave you with some questions, cause a simple answer wuld be not faithful to the rest of the story.

So I have to say that, in a rather short story, she has managed to create an enthralling story and even if I'm the pink lenses glass type, I have to admit that this is one of the few story that has positively strucked me lately.

ElfMeet by Fiona Glass

Jon is a young guy who lives in a little village; but as years pass, everything aroung him seems aging but him. When he no longer can bother that, he leave without destination. Soon he meets an elf, Kestrel, whose beauty is enthralling and having nothing to loose, he follows him in the wood. But maybe Jon is not who he seems and following Kestrel he finds not only a night of sex.

A very very short story but beautifully setting and with an hint of two interesting characters. Worthy maybe of more. But it is a fast satisfying reading.

This is the first story I read by Fiona Glass and as it is, I think I will searching for more about her: I think she has something coming out soon by Torquere Press

Kindred Spirit by Hank Edwards

John is an homicide detective tired of life. He has seen too much he feels too much and he is alone. He needs a kindred spirit to share is loneliness and he thinks to have found it in Alexander, a stranger he meets in a gay club. But Alexander is a strange man, he visits John only by night, he is pale and he is body cold. Every normal man has enough clues to know who is Alexander, hasn't he?

And John is a normal man and he knows who is his new lover, but he can't deny his sexual desire for him, it is an hunger too strong and he needs it to live... or to un-die.

Forget the ancient but gentle vampires, forget the strong but caring men who love but not kill, the men you recently have found in the paranormal romance: Alexander is a vampire, an old "classic" vampire and you will discover it reading this short enthralling tale.

Biting Comfort by Robert Harrison

Braddock is the classical vampire I'd like to find in a dark night. Instead he is found by Andrew, a doctor. In the beginning of the twenty century man love is not a choice, and so Andrew, when choose to harbour and take care of Braddock, loses his home and his work. He has no family so now he is really alone and he needs comfort and he finds it in the arms of Braddock.

Braddock is gentle and caring and seduces Andrew with patient and firmness: it will arrive the day when Drew will choose to remain forever with Braddock and not only for a life span.

A very short tale who shows you the good type of vampire, the vampire you will gladly invite in your bed! I read in the very lean Robert Harrison's website that this is a short story put in a more complex series, and it is not the beginning of the story but somewhat in the middle. I have not understood if the main story is just published or not, cause I'd like to read it.
