When Adam met Jack by G.A. Hauser

This is almost a "welcome back friends" book. It gathers characters from a bit of older books, as primary characters or little cameo appearances.

Adam, Ewan's Hollywood agent from "For Love and Money, the same man who made a move on Jason, Ewan's lover, is now in big trouble: his business partner is on trial for sexual harassment and he's clearly guilty, since it's the same thing he made on Ewan, and the reason why the guy chose to leave Hollywood and return back in England. Before the troubles carry away also him, Adam asks help to a good lawyer, Jack.

Jack is Mark's friend and rejected wanna-be lover from "Capital Games". He is still mourning on the fact that Mark moved with Steve, and he seems unable to free him from the intrusive figure. But when Jack sees Adam, he realizes that maybe he can't forget Mark, but he can move on: Adam is not as beautiful as Mark, but he is a good man and a funny lover.

Both Adam than Jack were positive characters in the previous books and they deserve an own book. "When Adam met Jack" is a collective book, one of that books usually the authors write after a long series to collect all the dearer characters and gift their reader with a rest and relax reading, enjoying the familiar faces and spying on the life of their favorite characters. And so here we have a good insight in Mark and Steve from "Capital Games", and cameo appearance of Ewan from "For Love and Money", Jennifer Bernstein from "Secrets and Misdemeanors", Angel Loveday from "Love you, Loveday" (hope to haven't forget someone).

Jack is a big boy with a self-consciousness issue. He was in love with Mark from so long that he has idealized the man and probably he is persuaded that, if Mark chose someone other, is because he is not enough worthy. The relationship with Adam is a strenght tonic, since the man he so deeply impressed and in awe of Jack, that he is a boost for his ego. Adam is a quite and nice character. Probably not so sparkly and impressing as Mark or Jack, but with an aurea of his own. He is a very good man.

"When Adam met Jack" is a book which slows smoothly and fast, you arrive at the end without realize that you have read almost 200 pages in a blurry to now how it ends.

In memory of Joan Van Nuys

Joan began writing late in life after her daughter Carol moved to Norway in 1973; she compiled Carol’s many adventures into short story form. Although not a fan of the romance genre (she never read a romance novel before deciding to write one), she thought it might be an easy way to begin a writing career. In the early-1980s, she wrote a traditional romance featuring a Norwegian hero that got her an agent; however, the story was rejected by major publishers. She persisted and wrote two more romances under the pseudonym “Marianna Essex” that were published by Signet Books. Joan found the format for the boilerplate romance novels to be too restrictive so she turned to writing the more challenging historical romances. Over a period of seven years, she wrote seven critically successful and popular historical romance novels published by Leisure Romance and Avon Books. Some of these books were translated into other languages, and she attained a worldwide following.

BWA Bulletin: new arrives on the library

here are the last addictions to my bookshelf (and addiction is just the right term, since I'm addicted to books, I can't manage to stop my fingers to push on the add to cart bottom...)

Can't prevent me to buy "Man, Oh Man" by Josh Lanyon, since I have been interviewed for it, and here and there my name is printed..: I love to see my name on print!

Look at the last book: it's a very rare Italian anthology "Idol, Storie di Sesso Hi-Tech (Idol, Hi-Tech Sex Stories)" with an Italian translation of Zoner, Michael Barnette's novella. I think it's the only available M/M romance translated into Italian!

And since Elisa is a collector, can't prevent me to buy newly translated books from the Grand Dames of Romance: Nora Roberts and Catherine Coulter, suspense thriller, and Lisa Kleypas, regency romance.

Kiss All the Boys 1 by Shiuko Kano

Tetsuo is a 32 years old porn comic artist. When he was 17 yd, he had a son with his best friend's sister, an older woman who, since then, always takes care of the son alone. But now she has to move for work and Haruka wants to live with Tetsuo, to be near his friends. Tetsuo is not a man used to be a father and plus in this moment his life is not so good, he has a two years impotence and he begins to reflect his personal life problems on the work.

When Haruka moves on with Tetsuo, he is no more the kid Tetsuo remembers; the boy is very sexually free (even if, truth be told, he is still a teen with the habits of a teen) and plus he pretends to be gay and in love with one of his highschool mate, Tamaki. Meanwhile Tetsuo makes a chance encounter in a X-rated theatre with another man, Momoyama, innocent and naivee, and Tetsuo, almost without realizing it, makes a move on the man, who, since that moment on, is obsessed with Tetsuo, thinking to be in love.

Tetsuo is perplexed, he doesn't understand his feelings, and he is also worrying for Haruka's friend, Tamaki, a shy and young boy, gentle and with a troubled family behind; where Tetsuo seems unable to be a father with Haruka, he seems to go on well with Tamaki. But there is another important and constant presence in Tetsuo's life, his best friend and Haruka's uncle, Michiro. For all these years Michiro has always been there for Tetsuo and also for Haruka, but he is only a friend, or he would like to be something more for Tetsuo?

Actually Tetsuo has his plate full with all these boys around him. The only one I'm sure he is not interested in a sentimental way is his son Haruka, for all the others I don't know. Esthetically I would like for him to choose Michiro, he is for sure the most handsome of the lot, but also Momoyama is so cute and innocent, I feel sorry for him, since I have not the feeling that, in the end, Tetsuo will choose him. And the Tamaki... he is too young for Tetsuo and then there is Haruka. I hope for him that Tetsuo's interested is only in a fatherly way.

This is the one of three volume, and I think I will find the answers to my questions only in the last one...
