Lip Service by Keta Diablo

Lip Service is a very short but romantic shory about how two men loving each other can do big mistakes if they don’t communicate.

Bryan left for a two weeks work travel abroad after a big quarrel with Navarre. Not only he didn’t want to listen to Navarre’s explanation, during the following two weeks, even if he called Navarre, he didn’t want to speak about what happened. Since Bryan is also Navarre’s Dom, for the submissive not having the chance to understand is a major source of worries.

The night when finally Bryan is expected home, is also the night of their fifth anniversary. Navarre is eagerly waiting his lover/master, and he is deeply disappointed when Bryan is hijacked 200 miles away without any chance to reach home if not in 2 days. Of course Navarre thinks to surprise his lover reaching him by car, but he will be the one to be surprised: in the end, a submissive has to always please his master, but if he takes initiatives, it’s possible that those acts will play against him.

I was a little worried about this story, since, let be truth, I like my classical love story; for me the kink of a light D/s relationship is enough, if at least they maintain the relationship at an exclusive level that is good. Lip Service was naughty at the right point, without pushing too much: Bryan and Navarre, put aside the D/s factor, are a long-term couple that still enjoys being together.

Adopt a Movie: In Between Men

I have some updates on the Web Series In Between Men

First of all, In Between Men producer have spent the last few months fundraising, developing the show, pre-production and then finally, filming in New York City this summer. It will launch later this fall in November, so stay tuned.

One of their main cast members, Max Rhyser (and online friend of mine) was on last month's cover of Instinct Magazine. It was In Between Men first piece of national press. Max talks about playing Jacob Ross in the show as well as being an out actor: “I’m not bisexual. I’m a gay man . . . I’m very attracted to the male figure.”

http://instinctmagazine.com/cover-story/cover-guy-max-rhyser

In Between Men is really starting to take off. It's getting tons of buzz from industry insiders as well. They had a blast shooting in NYC. AND they had a special guest star film an episode. I will give you a hint: They were a regular cast member on Queer As Folk! Hmmm, let your mind wander.

In Between Men was invited to the recent GLAAD Awards. Check out the cast!

They also participated in the AIDS Walk 2010 in Nyc.

Things to watch out for:
- A chance to attend the red carpet Nyc Premiere on Nov 7th
- More press in newspapers and magazines
- Interviews on websites and blogs
- Interviews on Sirius Radio

The Huffington Post wrote an article about In Between Men: "What exactly is a Golf Lesbian": http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dave-hollander/so-what-exactly-is-a-golf_b_744128.html

Apron Strings by Jaime Samms

Apron Strings is a very nice short story. It’s about two long-term lovers, living together for the last 5 years and with an apparently perfect life; but routine and also silences are wearing their relationship, both of them knows that but no one has the courage to speak aloud, until maybe it’s too late.

When the relationship started Danny was young and penniless, a struggling artist he relied on Neil’s kindness to move on with his life. He was also very experienced and maybe with a kinky side, but Neil was very vanilla and maybe also a bit shy, and Danny didn’t want to scare him away: the love of the man was more important than having kinky sex or being careless, and so Danny decided to settle down and becoming a perfect house-husband.

Now five years later, nor Danny or Neil are changed, but Danny is regretting a bit what he left behind. He is still in love with Neil, Neil still represents his safe haven, but sometime Danny’s mind wanders far away, to another time and place. Neil feels that he is losing his lover, if not forever, at least for little tiny bit of moments, and he doesn’t like it; but he has no the streak to impose to his younger lover to stop doing it, less to fill that void.

I didn’t have the feeling that their love was in danger, sure they had trouble, but the love between them was clear. How Danny always searched Neil to be comforted, how Neil’s vanilla side was something Danny cherished more than finding annoying, how when he was forced to sleep alone, he felt abandoned, those were all signs that Danny was still deeply in love with Neil, for the same exact reason he was five years before. And even if he was wounded, Neil has never let it go the hope to find a solution, and night after night he came back home to Danny; sure he slept alone, but at least he was there, waiting for the courage to speak to Danny, or in the hope that Danny did the first move.
