Payback

"I liked this book. Was really enjoying it from storyline, characters, and writing style then near the end I got totally thrown off in what was happening to the point I had to go back and reread certain sections. The ending was almost unbelievable to me. Still scratching my head."

A thrilling lesbian mystery about trying to right a past wrong…despite the consequences.

Detective Constable Kate Wolfe is sent to a Cheshire backwater after falling foul of a disciplinary hearing in London. But before she even has a chance to settle in, Kate finds herself in a situation there’s no coming back from. She’s reported as a troublemaker to her new boss, Detective Chief Inspector Helen Taylor, a no-nonsense veteran who once had an esteemed, high-profile career.

The pair investigate a spate of arson attacks, a dead body found in a burnt out building, and a missing architect while fighting their growing attraction for each other. The discovery of a dumped vehicle in a quarry lake sparks a series of events that will change their lives forever.

Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: Starting From Zero by Lane Hayes

Starting From Zero (Starting From Series Book 1)

"Justin Cuevas and Gray Robertson are as different as chalk from cheese - add an age gap of 14 years and it would seem they have no hope of getting into any kind of relationship. And yet, there is that spark, plus Gray has a load of respect for singer Justin's talent while Justin admires the heck out of the still hot at 44 Gray who had made a million or two in the music business. Business partners, band members and just plain old pains in the neck try to get in the way of J and G's budding relationship and for a while there I wondered if it would work out for them. The HEA is there but it took work on both their parts - just as it should. Highly recommended."

Justin Cuevas is going through a rough patch. A broken relationship, a scandal, and the demise of his band have shaken the aspiring rock star’s confidence. Working two jobs and sleeping on his friend’s sofa isn’t ideal, but Justin isn’t ready to give up yet. With a little luck, he’s hoping to re-launch his music career in LA with his new band, Zero. The key is to stay focused, and not get distracted by his past…or the sexy songwriter he can’t get out of his head.

Gray Robertson has written dozens of hits and worked with some of the biggest names in the industry. But he’s never met anyone like Justin. The younger man is fiery, passionate, and smart. A powerful voice for a new generation. Other than an unforgettable one-night stand and a passion for music, the two men have nothing in common. Or do they? Justin knows the out-of-the-blue challenge to write a quintessential love song is a huge opportunity. And it’s the ultimate test for someone who’s doesn’t believe in happily ever after. When sparks fly, Justin and Gray realize they have a shot something special if they start from zero together. Maybe even love.
