Gritty, interesting story about gangs and street life in NOLA. Mike Jenkins in a naive young police officer determined to find the killer of a young boy whose body he finds in a dumpster. NOPD want to pass it off as another gang-related death but Mike thinks otherwise. Hard times, drug addiction and strange bedfellows are vividly portrayed in this well written novel.

2020-2021 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: Whatever He Needs

Whatever He Needs by Mia Kerick

Dimmy is forced by his father into unsavory practices. Liam is a wealthy man with a heart. The two should never have met and when they do, it's an uncomfortable moment for them both. But that old saying - oposites attract - certainly applies here and their story is as sweet as a fairy tale where dreams do come true.

2020-2021 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: Silent Sin (A 1920s Hollywood Gay Romance)

Silent Sin (A 1920s Hollywood Gay Romance) by E.J. Russell

This was a sweet and very enjoyable book, but I have to put a disclaimer on it: I have a masters degree in cinema television from USC, and my favorite movies are silent films. When I lived in LA I was a member of the Silent Society. Because of that, when the writer failed to do the homework right, it was a little bit like getting stabbed in the eyes! I was tempted to give the book lower scores because of these bits of homework that should have been fixed before going to press. It was such an overall good job, I felt very let down by these stupid mistakes, and I beg the writer to fix them!
