2020-2021 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: The Noble and the Nightingale (The Sisters of Sarras #1)

The Noble and the Nightingale (The Sisters of Sarras #1) by Barbara Ann Wright

The Noble and the Nightingale was a fun, clever, and well crafted adventure in an interesting new world. I found that there were just enough twists and turns to keep the tale interesting without being unreal, the romance was sweet, and the characters were each unique and caught my attention. A joy to read.

Heart Failure by Chris Zett

Nicely written. Plot dragged a bit but overall a good flow. Loved the angst between Jess and Lena.

2020-2021 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: Dig Two Graves

Dig Two Graves (The Man Who Loved Cole Flores and The Man Who Hated Ned O'Leary) by K.A. Merikan

Brutal but romantic. Antiheroes Ned and Cole are complex, broken, morally off-center, and larger than life. The authors did an amazing job bringing every character and the wild west to life. I could not put this book down!

2020-2021 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: The Man from Milwaukee

The Man from Milwaukee by Rick R. Reed

I thought this was a very powerful story about loneliness, not fitting in, obsession, and fantasy. It’s not an easy read and is a very real journey into the dark side of human nature. The characters are layered, and the setting atmospheric, and although I was nervous about what might happen next, I had to keep reading.
