2020-2021 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: The Anti-Quest (The Pudding Protocol Universe)

The Anti-Quest (The Pudding Protocol Universe) by Angel Martinez

Once again this author delivers a mind-bending array of fantasy worlds in a way that pleases, teases and rewards the reader with laugh-out-loud humor. As the third increment in The Pudding Protocol Universe series, characters are well-developed and dialog is sparkling. The plot is good but would have benefited with a tad less complexity. But this book, and the entire series, is well written and outrageously creative.

2020-2021 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: The Voyages of Cinrak the Dapper

The Voyages of Cinrak the Dapper by A.J. Fitzwater

Magical and captivating, humorous and humane. Cinrak, the orphaned Capybara, realizes her life’s dream when she becomes captain of a pirate ship, the imposing Impolite Fortune. A dapper captain. The creativity of this author’s mastery of word choices, descriptions, dialog, including the vernacular of the scalawags and the sea, is magnificent, precise, accomplished. The story and characters are a tour de force. And isn’t it every adventuresome girl’s dream to become a pirate? Surrounded by gorgeous marmots, sexy mer, wanton rats and flirtatious stars? Yes, indeed!

Canopy (A Vivian Chastain Novel #1) by Liz Faraim

A compelling main character, difficult subject matter and a steady measured, precise mastery of the narrative. Quite impressive for a first book.

2020-2021 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: Wrong Number, Right Woman

Wrong Number, Right Woman by Jae

Sweet story capturing a slow burn alliance between two women, one straight, one lesbian, who meet because of a wrong number. Story had great dialog and good characters but suffered a bit from too much inner thought, which in turn affected some of the pacing. Overall, a lovely story.

2020-2021 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: Forever Theirs (Mistress #3)

Forever Theirs (Mistress #3) by Anna Stone

This author can handle steam! The author has designed an amusing plot with a great set-up, compelling characters and an uncanny ability to delve into the inner psyche of women in control…and women who want to be submissive to that. And yet, the three protagonists are never so much in control as when they are most vulerable. Smoothly written, the author takes command of the reader…and the rest, as they say, is a great read!
