My Beautiful Man (2023)

My Beautiful Man is one of my favorite drama. I have seen season 1 + season 2 + the movie many times and I still enjoy it at every watching. Very intensive and emotional, even if there is almost no sex scenes, but the one in the bathroom is one of the most sexy, despite being almost innocent. Takara-kun to Amagi-kun (2022)

 Takara-kun to Amagi-kun is a very sweet high school Romance, sweet like a lollipop... with just a little spice. Considering it from the perspective of a teenager it's perfect, of course, being mine teenager years long ago, I would have not minded some more heat between these two. About Youth (2022)

 There are some big holes in the story of About Youth, missing pieces and some mistakes probably because of a wrong editing, but the main couple and the sidekick are cutes enough to overcome the issues. All in all it was positive. HEA. You can see it on Viki. Heat level: 3/6.

Seven Days: Friday - Sunday and Monday - Thursday (2015)

Seven Days is not a series, but actually two movies, first one Monday-Thursday, second one Friday-Sunday. The plot is high school, and the feeling is a little old style (dated 2015), but it has good actors and good plot. Old Fashioned Cupcake was unexpectedly good, way more "faster" than other Japanese series, but with the same feelings. Moreover it has older characters (29 and 39 years old) that was quite good. Bon Appetit was quite good, and I would say it was almost food porn  Meaning the love of the main character is conveyed through the food he prepares for his neighbor, and every recipe is a declaration. The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese (2020)

The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese. This is not a series but a movie, even if, at 2 hours and 10 minutes is almost as long as a series. SPOILER AHEAD: I think I loved this imperfect characters love story, one is a certified cheater, the other is a stalker; both of them are basically the worst you can imagine, arriving to be willing to accept the worst from the other in the name of Love. But in the end it was the right thing to do, apparently. I read the manga is an HEA, the movie is open ending, but probably letting you believe they will find a way. You can see it on Viki. Tokyo in April is... was very sweet, a past trauma that deeply affected these two men, but that did not destroy their love, actually making it stronger. Love Mate was a delightful comedy, sweet, funny, romantic, no drama. Even the setting was cute, with an abundance of candy colors all around. The poster of this Korean series is totally wrong and led manys to pass it (below I chose a different picture, not the poster). But if you want something warm and fluffy, try this. Bump Up Business is for sure a winner in the eye candy category, but it is a very low budget production and it made me cringe sometime when dealing with homosexuality, starting from one of the mc saying his first love could not be possible cause they were both men. Kimi to Nara Koi wo Shite Mite mo (If it's with you) start with sex to end with romance, but not in the usual way. Amane is a sexually active teenager who hides his fear of rejection behind his bold attitude. But when he meets Ryuuji, a classmate, he falls in love for the first time, and all his bold attitude towards sex disappears, and we are regatded with a sweet high school romance. A Breeze of Love (2023)

I think the principal merit of A Breeze of Love is one of the male leads, Dong Wook, and that is the reason why I picked his photo instead of the poster, this last is not really catching. Aside from the looks, also the role of aloof and intensive male lead was really good. Said that I don't understand the behavior of the love interest, Do Hyun: if you are the only person your lover is so comfortable with that he is finally getting better from a clinical issue, I'd consider it a blessing, not a bertrayal. Anyway, just the chance to see more of Dong Wook is worthy the drama. HEA, You can see it on iQIYI and Viki. Heat level: 3/6.

My Dear Gangster Oppa (2023)

My Dear Gangster Oppa gave me mixed feelings. I really love the Meen/Ping pair from AiLongNhai, and the character of Tew is the aloof/cool male lead I prefer (always had a thing for the bad boy). The series up until episode 4 was a candidate for being among my favs. But after they got together, it sort of went down the hill at a fast pace. Not to the point of saying I didn't like it, but it was sort of meek, nothing to tell home about. Anyway, it was a good budget production, with good actors, and all in all enjoyable. Probably if you see it all in once, and not week by week like me, you will appreciate more. HEA. You can see it on iQIYI. Heat level: 5/6.

The End of the World with You (2023)

The End of the World with You (Bokura no Micro na Shuumatsu) has one of the best sex scene as starting point, but that is actually and then nothing, neither a kiss, for basically all the drama. Plus you are left hanging there, even if I believe they gave you enough tips to think this is actually an HEA. Anyway, it was a little bit disappointing, giving the chemistry of the two male leads, and plus I actually wanted to see more about the redemption of Ritsu, from playboy and manwhore to boyfriend and lover. Lovely Writer (2021)

Lovely writer was a nice one; it took maybe a little long for the main couple to got together, but the vibes were good. They have the sort of dynamic I like, one bold, the other shy, and even a little bit of inverse May/December thrope that was really nice. I think the series could be shorter without reducing its worth. Even if it was not the main reason of the series, also the insight on how a BL series is made was nice, with its good and bad side. Minato Shouji Coin Laundry (2022)

I have mixed feelings about Minato Shouji Coin Laundry, but overall I liked it, enough to go through 24 episodes (season 1 and season 2), without skipping them. The main issue for me was the pairing, an almost 30 years old man who is attracted by a 17 years old high school student. I say "attracted" and not "love" because at first it's a physical reaction, but then the boy expresses his feelings as well and the story starts. I have to give my kudos to Akira, who basically preserves the purity of Shin to the level that even a kiss is basically forbidden. That was totally understandable when Shin was underage and an high school student, but when they decides to be a couple (after Shin ends school and is 18 years old), the no kiss rules seemed a little too strict, and then, when Shin is at University and he is 19 years old, I think Akira went a little bit too far, Shin probably is dying of blue balls . Anyway this drama has all the element I like, a reverse May/December (in the meaning that the Dominant partner is the younger one), an intensive male lead character, who is also the younger man in the couple, the little bit of jealousy not crossing the level of being unreasonable, but just making them a cute couple. No really big drama, even if the usual escapade of amnesia felt a little bit trite. HEA. You can see it on GagaOOLala. Heat level: 4/6.

Given (2021)

After seeing Given, I'm not sure if I want to cry or smile. It is again a high school Romance but it has cool rocker kids and a sweet, sweet Romance (so sweet there is one just tiny kiss at the very end). I think it was too short, there were for sure parts that could have been developed better, like the story of the drummer and the violinist. The past trauma is sort of horrible, also because, yes, the kid played an important role in it, and the sense of guilty is, for once, suited. But there is that last sentence, I think I'm falling in love again, that gives hope for redemption and future joy. HEA. You can see it on Crunchyroll and WeTv. Heat level: 2/6.

Friends with Benefits (2022)

Fahlanruk (aka Friends with Benefits) is a guilty pleasure. Basically it's the thrope of the reformed playboy pursuing the man he fell in love at first sight, the main issue being that that man is also a little bit of a flirty butterfly, who doesn't do repeats for his one night stand. But the principle is soon forgotten, since we are presenting with 3 consecutive nights of sex... sex that is on plain sight. My issue with the story is that, at the beginning, Fah has a "boy" (which I don't understand if it's a boyfriend or a fuck toy), and it's not an excuse the boy is cheating, because also Fah is cheating (in the first episode, Fah has sex with 3 different persons, all in 1 day and half). Plus this is a very low budget production, and if not for the story, I wouldn't probably being able to see it. But yes, the story is catching, and therefore you pass over the other issues. HEA. Vice Versa (2022)

 I think I have a reached a point that, to make me say I really liked a series, it has to be very good. Vice Versa is not right up to that level but I sort of got enthralled by the actors more than the story. Jitaraphol "Jimmy" Potiwihok has that sort of allure that catches your attention when he is on screen, letting you forget about all the other issues of the series. In this case the plot was too slow, too many unnecessary threads, and when it was important to deep delve in, it was almost overlooked. But the story was cute, there is an HEA, and therefore I say give it a try. You can see it on Viki. Heat level: 4/6.

Desires to Be Recognized (2022)

The funny fact about Desires to Be Recognized (Kabe Sa Doujin Sakka no Neko Yashiki-kun wa Shouninyokkyuu wo Kojiraseteiru) is that it's probably one of the most romantic BL series I have seen where the couple doesn't even kiss once. It has basically all the thropes I prefer, the brooding male character, the forever love that is never questioned, the public declaration, a little touch of Cinderfella... did I miss the kiss? Ai Long Nhai (2022)

Ai Long Nhai is among my favorites, even if, as I often say, college drama is not my preferred thrope. But the character of Ai is exactly up to my alley: handsome, a little bit brooding, sexy, with a mischievious smile; Nhai is maybe a little too much naive, but I love like Ai takes care of him. I love also the support they are receiving both from friends and family. This is basically a low drama, good feeling comedy romance. Maybe the point of lack are the side stories, too many threads that felt a little bit unnecessary. Moreover, I don't get this always sending the characters on a field trip... like what it doesn't happen at their home, it will happen if they are in the open... HEA. You can see it on iQIYI and Viki. A Chance to Love (2020)

A Chance to Love was one of the first series I have seen and it's still one of my favorites. I know that there are many fans out there of Love by Chance, and of Pete, but truth be told, I was more engaged in the character of Tin already then. So I was more than happy to see it developed in A Chance to Love. Indeed his moody behaviour is hiding a softy, and I really love this side of him. I'm not really a fan of Can, I found him to be too childish, but nevertheless, this is still one of the most enjoyable series for me. HEA. You can see it on iQIYI, Viki and WeTV. Heat level: 5/6.

Bed Friend was a missed opportunity for me. I know you shouldn't judge an actor based only on his physical appeareance, but considering the basis of the story is a friends with benefits plot, supposedly with a lot of sex, I suppose the fact that I don't think King and Uea have chemistry together is an important element for my judgement. My Tooth Your Love (2022)

My Tooth Your Love is sweet and cute. I admit that I waited long to see it, cause, all right, a dentist? I couldn't really find this plot romantic. But I was wrong. Jin Xun An is sexy, and Bai Lang has that level of cuteness that doesn't fall into clumsiness. Both are adult men, but still, they manage to preserve the pure child inside them. Also the love story is very sweet. This is one those series I tag as "smiling kiss": if you notice, when people kiss in the BL series, sometime there is this smiling kiss, where the lips are, at the both time kissing and smiling. I found these series to be always very sweet. The two side stories are nice, one, those between RJ and Alex more developed, but also that of Da A and is patient was good. HEA. Triage (2022)

Triage is not really the BL romance I prefer, but I have to admit that, unexpectedly, I enjoyed it. The time loop thrope was, for once, well done, and therefore we are not presented over and over with the same scene played by the main characters, but they actually try to change their destiny changing their actions. The romance between Tin and Tol but is important element of the story, and not an accessory to the thriller story. Actually, I wanted to skip most of the scene involving the thriller, to got to those where Tin and Tol are together. HEA. You can see it on Youtube. Heat level: 3/6.

KinnPorsche (2022)

I know I'm talking about one of the most beloved BL series out there, but to me KinnPorsche was just ok if we are talking about the main couple. It doesn't fell short on the sexy characters, I agree, and Kinn and Porsche have indeed many sexy scenes together, even if, please, the first two of them are under the influence of alcohol and drugs, so much that Porsche does not remember them... So not really my ideal romance. Said that, I'm probably to blame cause my preferred couple here is not Kinn and Porsche, but Vegas and Pete, and you all are screaming at me about my consensual sex of above... but indeed, Pete is always aware when it happens, and in a way, I think he is not against it at all. So yes, if they are thinking to a sequel, or a retelling, I hope we can see more of Vegas and Pete. HEA. You can see it on iQIYI. Heat level: 6/6.

What Did You Eat Yesterday? is for sure different. It's the story of a long term couple, 45 and 42 years old, normal guys with normal lives. It's not extreme like Ossan's Love, it's not cute like many Japanese high school series, but it's not dramatic like some other. Yes, it's ordinary to a level that, at first, you can find it boring. But episode after episode you start to care for these two men, and you want to know a little more about them, so you go on, cause every episode gives you a glimpse in their life. And then there is the food, you almost salivate with the desire to be able to eat what Shiro is cooking. HEA. Be aware, the viewing order is Season 1, Special, Movie, Season 2. Cherry Magic was cute without being stupid. I really liked the interaction between Adachi and Kurosawa, because they are not thrite. Even if Kurosawa is a handsome man, he seems totally unaware of this, and it's therefore kind and approachable by everyone. He is in love with Adachi, but he is not doing anything to be noticed by his love interest, and therefore, without the magic, probably nothing would have happened between these two. If I have to be truth, there is one thing I don't like of Cherry Magic: I didn't really care about the side couple, even if it could have been really cute, I think they played it too much on the comic/comedic, making it annoying instead of cute (at least for me). Plus I would have not minded a little more of intimacy between Adachi and Kurosawa, given these are both adult characters... but I understand they wanted to maintain this series on a sweet level. My Personal Weatherman (2023)

My Personal Weatherman is one of my favorites, among those series I can rewatch without skipping a second, knowing what will happen and nevertheless being enthralled every time. This was probably one of the first dramas I saw, and for sure the first Japanese, and it set a standard for me: I love Japanese characters, I love their fashion, I love their intensity, I love basically everything, even their apparently inability of express their feelings with words and also to understand those of their partner, poor Segasaki is basically telling, and proving, to Yoh for 8 episodes that he loves him, and Yoh is always misinterpreting those actions and words for something else. I would really love a second season, especially if they tell us of the first moments together of Segasaki and Yoh, when they started living together, and yes, of their first time. HEA. Mr Heart (2020)

Mr Heart was cute. It started way more sexy, it actually gave me a jolt at the first scene, and I was, oh, alright, this is indeed a sexy one, but then it remained on a sweet level till the very end... and it was fine. I loved the contrast between the two male leads, a contrast that was both in character than in look, I have to confess I have always had a thing about a long tall man paired with a cute boy, and Sang Ha and Jin Won are fitting to a T the roles.
