Blog Tour: Lock And Key by Z. Allora

I want to thank Elisa Rolle for hosting part 3 of Zack Davis’s backstory. It is appreciated! Everyone’s foray into BDSM is unique. I wanted to share with readers how the main character of Lock and Key, Zack Davis became enthralled with BDSM. So for the Lock and Key blog tour I’ve written 11 parts of his story. I hope you enjoy it!

Part 2 can be found at: http://www.prismbookalliance.com/?post_type=post&p=49928

Part 3

His mother’s scream pierced his sleep. Zack grabbed his baseball bat as he tripped out the door.

“Did you see this?” She waved the latest edition of her favorite trashy tabloid at him.

“Um?” His eyes adjusted to the light. His mother was alone in the room. Okay, no one to kill.

His mother shrieked, “Look at what your brother did.”

What had Jordon—

“They published a picture of Dusty with some boy in a dress!”

Dusty? Usually Jordan was the one in trouble.

Jordon stumbled into the living room rubbing his eyes and wearing a T-shirt with Rainbow Warrior scrolled across the chest and neon purple sweats. “Why is Dusty wearing a dress?”

“No! No! Look!” She threw the tabloid at them, and Jordon snatched it.

Their mother grabbed the gossip rag back. “No, not you! Don’t look at this! Get dressed, we’re going to your brother’s to put a stop to this.”

Scowling, Jordon left the living room to bang around his bedroom.

Her reaction to his oldest brother kissing a gender fluid person pushed Zack deeper into the shadows. She’d never tolerate his interest in guys let alone BDSM.

If his own mother couldn’t accept him, how could anyone?

Part 4 will be http://reneestevens.net on June 24th!

Rejected. Heartbroken. Devastated.

Zack Davis wanted to serve only one man, Andrew Nikeman. He was denied because Andrew thought he was too young and because their brothers were together. So Zack crushed his submissive tendencies and focused on being the perfect Dom, giving every sub he played with something he couldn’t have.

After years of denying his submissive side, Entwined’s charity auction “Are you Dom Enough to be a sub?” gives Zack an excuse to get a little of what he’s always craved.

Andrew doesn’t know when his infatuation turned into more, but it kills him to see Zack with a constant parade of submissives. He’d refused to jeopardize his brother’s relationship or become Zack’s regret; however, Zack isn’t a kid anymore, and his brother’s relationship is unbreakable. Now Zack’s popularity and success as a Dom might ruin Andrew’s dreams of collaring him, but he can’t wait any longer to confess his feelings or he risks losing the man he loves forever.

Blog Tour: Bad Dogs and Drag Queens (Rose and Thorne #1) by Julie Lynn Hayes

Bad Dogs and Drag Queens (Rose and Thorne #1) by Julie Lynn Hayes
Publisher: Dreamspinner Press; 1 edition (May 25, 2016)
Amazon Kindle: Bad Dogs and Drag Queens (Rose and Thorne #1)

Blurb: Vinnie Delarosa and Ethan Thorne are partners—on and off the clock. Federal undercover detectives, they’re part of a covert task force designed to promote goodwill between the feds and local authorities. They lend an unobtrusive helping hand wherever it’s needed. No credit required.
Vinnie and Ethan work primarily in the Southeast region of the United States and live together in Richmond, Virginia. A mugger problem brings them to Roanoke, where Vinnie is thrown out as bait to catch the man who’s been snatching purses in a city park, but they end up with more than they bargained for. Why is Vinnie always the one who has to wear the dress? Ethan says it’s because Vinnie looks much prettier in a skirt. How can he argue with that?
Expecting to return to Richmond afterward, Vinnie and Ethan find themselves assigned a new case instead. They are to go undercover at The Stroll, one of the biggest gay nightclubs in Roanoke. Someone is terrorizing both the customers and the performers. Could they be dealing with a hate crime? Someone has to protect the drag queens of Roanoke, so it’s Vinnie and Ethan to the rescue!

Excerpt )

Meet the author: Julie Lynn Hayes first began publishing short stories and poetry in the 1990’s, when it was a different ballgame altogether, and Ebooks hadn’t been dreamed of yet. That changed in 2010 with the acceptance of her first romance novel. She’s come a long way since that first book appeared, and is finding the journey a very educational one.
She lives in St. Louis with her daughter Sarah and her cat Ramesses. She often writes of two men finding true love and happiness in one another’s arms, and is a great believer in the happily ever after. She likes to write in different genres, to stretch herself in order to see what is possible. Her great challenge is to be told something can’t be done—she feels compelled to do it.
When she isn’t writing, she enjoys crafts, such as crocheting and cross stitch, needlepoint and knitting, and she loves to cook, spending time watching the Food Network. Her favorite chef is Geoffrey Zakarian. Her family thinks she’s a bit off, but she doesn’t mind. Marching to the beat of one’s own drummer is a good thing, after all. Her published works can be found at Dreamspinner Press, eXtasy Books, and Wayward Ink Press.

Have the characters share a list of things they’ll never do again

Ethan: Wear a dress
Vinnie: Hey, that goes on my list, not yours. When did you ever wear a dress?
Ethan: I was thinking of you when I said it.
Vinnie: I can speak for myself. *clears throat* Wear a dress.
Ethan: I don’t believe that.
Vinnie: You don’t believe what?
Ethan: That you’ll never wear a dress again. You’ve said that before. See how well that’s worked out for you.
Vinnie: Fuck you, I mean it this time. And whose fault is it I end up in a dress? Why don’t you wear one next time? Then I won’t have to.
Ethan: Because I can’t possibly look as sexy as you do in a dress, baby. You make my motor run, you know that?
Vinnie: We’re getting off the subject here, Ethan! *blushes* Go on to the next thing on the list.
Ethan: Isn’t it your turn?
Vinnie: I said the dress.
Ethan: I said it first.
Vinnie: Oh for Christ’s sake! I’ll tell you what’s next on my list. I’m never answering interview questions again. *He stalks off, Ethan, following close behind*

Blog Tour: Trainwreck by Michele Micheal Rakes

Trainwreck (Trainwreck #1) by Michele Micheal Rakes
Publisher: Michele Micheal Rakes (January 25, 2016)
Amazon Kindle: Freeing His Mercenary (Mercenary In Love Book 3)

Blurb: Detective Sergeant Vincent Sweetwater hates dead bodies. That’s why he’s an undercover narc and not a homicide dick. So why is he standing on a sandy beach in California staring at a lifeless body—oh yeah, the suicide attempt. Lieutenant Hanson is making a statement. Something about life worth living. Shows what he knows.
As Vince examines the tortured body, he feels an empathy and déjà vu for the victim, her wounds are similar to scars he has only a vague memory receiving. An intense desire to find her killer fills his queasy belly as a dark game of cat and mouse begins.
The young woman’s death forces Vince back into a secret life dominated by sex, perversion, and sadomasochism. Estranged from his wife he still loves and longing for the man who possessed him once, Vince buries his torment deep inside meaningless sex.
*Warning: This book contains adult content and situations. NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH.

Excerpt )

Meet the author: Michele Micheal Rakes lives in a small town in the shadow of a big mountain and works as a surgical technologist assisting in the removal of tonsils and testicles. Three grown children, a one year old granddaughter named Thrasher, two psychotic Egyptian Mau’s, a husband with hair down to his knees, an Amazon for a wife, two Harley’s, and a ferret named Teeny Tiny Ferret Feet (husband insists her name Little Feet, we all know he’s wrong) life is gets pretty wild.
Note: Wife recently passed away from cancer and this book is dedicated in loving memory of Mary Louise Castleman. Love you babe!

"I’m a Pacific Northwest native who loves to ride a Harley. I’ve been writing since I was small. My first novel, Trainwreck and subsequently the sequel, Surviving Adam were written in 2010, but were not my first publications. Saving Kane was the first, followed by Fourth and Long. There are two more to that series in progress. Trainwreck was a large novel. Epic and dark, but I wanted people to really know the man inside Vincent Sweetwater, so I had to make this anti-hero somehow lovable. I think I achieved that goal, but I won’t know until I release the final book in late August, 2016. The first two are out and three is in post-production, as it were, and I’m going for a June release. I’ve been put a bit behind schedule. Actually, all books are written, but I don’t take editing lightly.
Trainwreck is a five part series about a man addicted to sex. A psychological thriller, Trainwreck takes you into the mind of a killer and his survivor, forever tied together in a twisted dance of sex, BDSM, and abuse. There’s a fine line between love and lust and crazy. Trainwreck explores Vince’s hidden desires and his sexuality. He’s a man on a tragic path who must find a killer before the bastard takes one more life, and he must do it while keeping his own suicidal ass in check. Funny, tragic, and poignant. He’s so broken, all there is left for him to do is put the pieces of himself back together, and just when he thinks he can’t get crushed any further, the killer strikes again.
*This is a menage/poly, but if you can imagine the combinations, then you’re in for a treat."

List the first five things you would do if you suddenly had millions of dollars.
The first thing I would do is create the Mary Louise Castleman Fund to raise money to help low income cancer patients and for research toward a cure for cancer. Then I would take care of my family. From there, I’ve always wanted to live a year in the highlands of Scotland. I’m a pretty simple person. I wish I could write full time and perhaps the money would help me do that, but I can honestly say…I’d spend it on everyone else. College funds for the grandchildren. College for my son. I’d love to be able to give my kids and grandkids nice things. Most of all, I’d trade every last penny to have Mary back, to have my wife back, and riding her Harley. Instead, I’ll just have to wait until the next life to see her again.

Blurb: Miles Lawson goes to sleep dreaming of a future with his boyfriend Adam, but wakes to find he is married to Ana, an acquaintance from high school. When he learns he has been time traveling, Miles is consumed with finding a cure for his rare condition—and finding his first love. But will he be able to convince Adam he is telling the truth before it’s too late?

Excerpt )

Meet the author: Carrie Pack is the author of Designs On You and a part-time college professor who recently left her job in marketing to actively pursue her writing career. Carrie lives in Florida, which she fondly calls America’s Wang, with her husband and four cats.

"Thanks for having me. My current book is In the Present Tense. It’s a tale of mental illness, time travel and betrayal. And if that doesn’t get you hooked, there’s also a love story driving the narrative as well as a bit of mystery surrounding my main character Miles and the mysterious condition that causes him to time travel."

1) Do you have any strange writing habits?
I’m a pantser; I write by the seat of my pants with minimal outlining. I write at all hours of the day but especially after dark. I always use a computer to write, but sometimes it’s on my couch, other times in bed, but rarely at my desk. I often have one of my four cats covering one or more hands, so typos are a definite possibility.

2) Just as your books will inspire others, what books have inspired you?
I am such a voracious reader, this kind of question is always tough for me to answer. The easy answer is “all of them.” But the ones that have stuck with me are ones I read as a child, like the entire Oz series. L. Frank Baum created such a lush world full of imagination, and it’s a shame so many people have only seen the movies. But I was later inspired by Chaim Potok, early VC Andrews, Ray Bradbury, Carlos Ruiz Zafón, Lewis Carroll, Margaret Atwood, Barbara Kingsolver. The list goes on. Maybe I should have just said “all of them.”

3) What do you consider to be your best accomplishment (writing or life)?
My biggest accomplishment is always the last book I’ve finished writing. The act of turning in a manuscript always feels so incredibly rewarding.

4) Where do you see yourself in ten years?
I hope to be still writing books that inspire, entertain and make people think. It wouldn’t hurt to have a best-seller under my belt either.

5) If you had a super power, what would it be?
Time travel. It’s 100% why I wrote In the Present Tense. I wanted to take the stigma placed on mental illness and turn it into a super power.

Even his best friend Malachi, a ghost who is hopelessly in love with Eli, remains unaware of all that transpired in London. Malachi can never know the truth.

To make matters worse, a chance encounter with the most beautiful man he has ever seen shatters his beloved isolation, pushing him into the world of the living once more. Something about this strange man seems so familiar, but Eli can’t even remember who he was before he became a vampire, never mind explain the unwanted emotions the enigmatic stranger ignites in his dead heart. So Eli has a choice—return to the world that ruined him, or continue his self-imposed exile with no hope of salvation.

Dead camp book one Excerpt )

Meet the author: I think that as I approach that milestone that is fifty, I must be one of the oldest gamers on the face of this earth. Many a day you will find me lashed to my PS4 enjoying a good session of Skyrim. Who doesn’t love a good session of Skyrim?
I love writing—I have done it since I was a child when I would happily write about the latest episode of Doctor Who (Tom Baker in those days) in my schoolbooks. Growing up and becoming a business owner with my friend Jayne left little time to pursue my dream of publication, but of late the desire and the compulsion to put words onto paper have once again dominated my life so that now, my laptop has become surgically fused to my fingertips.
There is something desperately satisfying about telling a story. My fascination with History, Religion and Conspiracy theories have, in this instance, gone hand-in-hand with my love of all things vampire, fantasy, sci-fi and horror. I drove my parents nuts when I was young because that was all I would read about in books, all I would watch on television, but they have held me in good stead, and long may my obsession with the subjects continue, at least, that is, until the day they put me in my own wooden box. And imagination is such a wonderful thing. I once had a rather vivid dream about David Tennant and the Tardis console, but I could not possibly go into details about that here. Let’s just say that my polarity was well and truly reversed.
Dead Camp is just the beginning. I have to check my knickers every day at the thought that this book is now in the public domain. My first book, and I hope the first of many. And to those out there who love to write, who love to transport us to new worlds, or old worlds with a twisted perspective, I say to you keep going. I never thought I would ever see my work available to download, and thanks to eXtasy Books, the dream that I always thought unobtainable has finally come true. So thank you all at eXtasy, I am one happy homosexual thanks to you, and thank you the reader for taking the time to read this strange tale and allowing Eli and the incomparable Malachi into your lives.
And now I really need Skyrim.
.
1) Was there a basis for you story? A previous experience or something else?
The sexual aspect of the story, the desire to be needed, to feel attractive, the never-ending appetite, that came from me to an extent. As a gay man in my late 40’s, I feel rather unattractive, and non-sexual, so a lot of my feelings on that subject fueled my writing. But the idea itself was born from my love of film, television, and documentaries, which continue to be a great source of inspiration. I love the Discovery channel. I once watched a documentary about Hitler and his obsession with the occult. That made something in my head explode, and before I knew it, I had the outline of Dead Camp plotted. Also, as I work through an idea, other ones present themselves. Sometimes they fit, sometimes they have to be put away for another book. When an idea hits me, I write it down, and then I start to write around it, play with it, and see where it leads me. Dead Camp presented a series of strong ideas, and once I realised that they could all be linked, that there was an entire series of possibilities, I was at my computer writing furiously.
I recently finished reading a book, The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova, and I consider that book to be the true successor to Stoker’s Dracula. However, as I was reading it, another idea hit me, albeit one that does not involve Vampires. Her style of writing, and the way she tells her story, got me to thinking about how I could tell a story in a slightly different way, and then I realised that I had the outline for a completely new book. So I wrote it down, put it in my file, and that will be my project once Dead Camp is finished.

2) What skills do you think a writer needs?
I don’t know if I have any skills, that is not for me to judge. I think that as a writer, you need to try to create believable characters, be they Vampires, Demons, or Ghosts. If you cannot empathize with your characters, then the work will not engage the reader and the work will lack any kind of emotional charge. As a reader, I like to feel emotionally attached to the characters I read about, and then I feel involved in the story, and I care about them and their journey. For a writer, that is a really hard thing to do, but also the most important.

3) What for you is the perfect book hero?
Someone who learns about themselves as they progress through the story, and that in turn helps the reader to engage. It’s all very well being gorgeous, strong, to have supernatural powers, or leap tall buildings in a stride, but I want to engage with my hero on an emotional level, I want to identify with them, feel the things they feel, see their vulnerabilities and follow their journey to beat those fears. I want to see a hero that has a little bit of me inside them, because if they can achieve their goals, then so can I.

4) Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
That initial finding of the voice, that initial characterization that will fuel the novel. I need to find a way into my characters, how do they speak, how do they react to a given situation, what do they feel, what do they need, what drives them. I have to answer these questions before I can write, and sometimes that is a challenge.
Book 1 and 2 were not so bad. I had Eli well and truly mapped out, and Malachi was just a joy to write. Book 3 is proving very difficult, because I thought I knew the character, and I thought I knew how he would be, but I was wrong. He is different to how I imagined and I have had to go back and re-examine him, and that is not a bad thing because I hope he will be all the more rounded for it. But it has taken a while to get into his head, even though I have written over half of the first draft. The second half of the book will go quicker now that I know him, and the second draft will be much better once I adjust a few things. Characters can really screw you over sometimes, I may just have to kill someone.

5) Tell us about your favorite childhood book.
When I was a very young child, my aunt took me to a jumble sale. I was about 8, and it was during the school summer break. In that jumble sale I found a very old, very worn copy of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. It was 50p, so my aunt bought it for me. I read that book in a couple of days. I read that book about three times over that 6-week summer break. I have read that book so very, very many times over the years. Bram Stoker gave us one of the very best literary monsters in history. That book is genius, on every level. His imagination, his research, his approach to telling a story, his characterization, wow. I have read that book so many times, and I will read it again, and again. He inspired me to write, he inspired Dead Camp, and there is a story I want to tell in the future, and even though it will not involve Vampires, the style of it is directly inspired by the style of Bram Stoker and Dracula.

Blurb: Jonas needs Tate. He just doesn’t know it yet.
Or at least, he doesn't want to admit it. Because there is no way Jonas Ashcroft is gay. He’s a straight, carefree frat boy player, just like any good son of a conservative state senator. If only his struggle to convince everyone—especially himself—didn’t leave him so miserable. No matter how many girls or bottles he drowns himself in, Jonas can neither escape nor accept who he is.
Enter Tate. He’s smart, confident, and instantly sees right through Jonas’s surly exterior. Sure, he’s done things in life he’s not proud of, but he knows who he is and what he wants. And what he wants is Jonas. As their easy friendship intensifies into something more, Tate introduces Jonas to a life he’s never known. One filled with acceptance and sex and a love that terrifies and excites them both.
But some inner demons refuse to be shaken off so easily. When Jonas’s old life barges in, he faces a shattering choice, one that could destroy everything he and Tate have fought so hard for. Sometimes love just isn’t enough—and sometimes it’s exactly what you need.

Meet the author: A.M. Arthur was born and raised in the same kind of small town that she likes to write about, a stone's throw from both beach resorts and generational farmland. She's been creating stories in her head since she was a child and scribbling them down nearly as long, in a losing battle to make the fictional voices stop. She credits an early fascination with male friendships (bromance hadn't been coined yet back then) with her later discovery of and subsequent love affair with m/m romance stories. A.M. Arthur's work is available from Samhain Publishing, Carina Press, Dreamspinner Press, and SMP Swerve.
When not exorcising the voices in her head, she toils away in a retail job that tests her patience and gives her lots of story fodder. She can also be found in her kitchen, pretending she's an amateur chef and trying to not poison herself or others with her cuisine experiments.

"Hello! I’m an m/m romance author, who mostly writes contemporary but occasionally delves into paranormal. I live in Hicksville, USA with two rambunctious cats and a large collection of horror film DVDs.
My newest release, Come What May, is the first in a new NA romance series with Carina Press. Jonas Ashcroft is suspended from college after a fraternity prank goes wrong, and he’s stuck working in his aunt’s thrift store—his very first job ever. Tate Dawson runs an LGBT homeless shelter nearby, and when their paths cross, sparks fly. So do insults, misunderstandings, and smexy times.

List story ideas you hope to tackle in the future.
How much time do you have?
I don’t want to regurgitate my list of WIP’s or planned sequels, because I’ve posted those on my website. So instead, I’ll list some of the less defined ideas I want to work on at some point. All m/m, although not all necessarily romance….
A shifter book. I started writing one in April, and I have no idea where it’s going or when I’ll finish, but I adore shifters.
A haunted house book. I’ve done spooky (Prodigal, Frozen), but I want to do some sort of legit haunted house/slasher-style novel.
I’ve always been fascinated by the food truck culture. While I step into a little bit in the second All Saints book, Say It Right, I have notes for a series that uses multiple food trucks as the setting/the thing that ties all of the heroes together.
The insane chemistry between Danny and Doody in the recent FOX live musical version of “Grease” has me wanting to do an m/m in the 1950’s greaser world.
Romantic suspense. Just because I’ve never tried writing one.
Phew, that’s a list.

Meet the author: A. M. Leibowitz is a queer spouse, parent, feminist, and book-lover falling somewhere on the Geek-Nerd Spectrum. Ze keeps warm through the long, cold western New York winters by writing about life, relationships, hope, and happy-for-now endings. In between noveling and editing, ze blogs coffee-fueled, quirky commentary on faith, culture, writing, books, and hir family.

"I’m an author and editor by day, a spouse, parent, and activist by night. An Act of Devotion is my fourth novel. It was inspired by the work many of my fellow activists are doing. I usually write literary LGBTQ+ fiction with relational themes (love, friendship, family). This is my first genuine romance."

1) Where do you find your inspiration?
Usually from real-life situations I or people I know have been through. I dress them up a bit, and they aren’t exact matches, but they’re definitely inspired by reality.

2) When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Back when I was blogging, doing commentary on issues in the church. I’ve been writing for years, but until I did it all the time, I never really put myself in that category.

3) Do your characters become like real people to you?
Oh, yes. Characters in books I read do as well. I like to say I don’t read or write a book—I have a relationship with it.

4) If you weren’t a writer, what else would you like to have done?
I was going to be a lactation consultant, a professional who works with breastfeeding parents. I even wrote an educational program as my graduate thesis.

5) What do you want your tombstone to say?
Just my name and dates. I’d like to hope my legacy is more than what’s written on a stone in a cemetery.

Blurb: A freak accident during the Stanley Cup Playoffs put an end to Max Ashford’s hockey career. Despite everything, Max gets back into the game he loves—only this time, behind the bench as an assistant coach of the Spartanburg Spitfires, the worst team in the entire league. But nothing prepares him for the shock when he learns the new head coach is Misha Samarin, the man who caused Max’s accident.

After spending guilt-ridden years for his part in Max’s accident, Russian native Misha Samarin has no idea what to do when he’s confronted with Max’s presence. Max’s optimism plays havoc with Misha’s equilibrium—as does the fierce attraction that springs up between them.

Not only must they navigate Misha’s remorse and a past he’s spent a lifetime to forget, but also a sleazy GM determined to use their history as a marketing hook. But when an unwelcome visitor targets the team, Misha revisits his darkest days, which might cost him and Max the beginning they’ve worked so hard to build.

Excerpt )

Meet the author: Avon Gale was once the mayor on Foursquare of Jazzercise and Lollicup, which should tell you all you need to know about her as a person. She likes road trips, rock concerts, drinking Kentucky bourbon and yelling at hockey. She’s a displaced southerner living in a liberal midwestern college town, and when she’s not writing you can find her at the salon, making her clients look and feel fabulous. She never gets tired of people and their stories -- either real or the ones she makes up in her head.

1) Describe your book to us.
Power Play is about two former NHL players who were hired to coach the worst team in the ECHL, the Spartanburg Spitfires. Not only did Max and Misha play for rival teams, but during a heated playoff game, Misha inadvertently caused an accident that ended Max’s career. It’s now five years later, and the two are hired by a GM who thinks maybe the publicity will help sell tickets.

2) Have you ever read something that made you think differently about your genre? Can you tell us what it was?
I can remember the first romance novel I ever read, which was a gothic romance – one of those where the girl is in a dress and running away from a towering castle? It was called “The Lost Duchess of Greydon Castle.” I was hooked on romance from that point on, and read every one in this giant box my mom kept in our upstairs guest room. I’ve always loved gothic romance and would love to write one someday!

3) Tell us about your character’s family life?
Max has a very happy and supportive family. His mother was a lacrosse player in high school, and his father was the shy, geeky kid who was good at math and tutored his outgoing, popular mother. Max jokes that his parents relationship is a real-life meet-cute rom-com, and it is. They have a very strong friendship and that’s something that has made an impact on Max from an early age. He also has an older brother, who’s married with three kids. His older brother is an accountant and the reason Max passed math in high school and college.

4) Compare yourself to your main character.
Max and I share a lot of similarities, in that we’re both positive, optimistic people who are all about moving forward and new adventures. Max sees the best in everyone and I like to think I do, too. I’m a little better at geography and definitely better with history than Max, but I can’t ice skate to save my life – and I’m a die-hard Bruins fan.

5) Describe your past week as a type of landscape or a weather forecast.
It’s hockey playoffs and my second-favorite team is in the second round, so, basically every day is like a tornado around here when the game is on. When it’s not a game day for the Blues, I’d say it’s mostly sunny with a nice cool breeze ;)

Alex would rather poke his own eyes out with a pointy stick than call on his old enemy Nick Truman for help; he’d also do anything to keep Hunter out of danger. But even his nemesis can’t reach them now.
Once again, they only have each other to depend on as their paradise is about to become hell on earth.

Meet the author: Heloise West, when not hunched over the keyboard plotting love and mayhem, dreams about moving to a villa in Tuscany. She loves history, mysteries, and romance of all flavors. She travels and gardens with her partner of 10 years, and their home overflows with books, cats, art, and red wine.

"This is the second installment in the Heart and Haven series, a universe that began with Hitting Black Ice (Loose Id). Send Lawyers, Guns, and Roses picks up after the events in HBI a few months after. Hunter and Alex’s troubles aren’t over yet, and to help the couple escape them, Alex’s parents given them a vacation on the Caribbean island of Saba.

I love to travel, and though recently we’ve been alternating American and European cities, in another century I did some traveling in the Caribbean, mostly in the Lesser Antilles, as far south as Barbados. I’ve never been to Saba, though. I’d love to, now. "

1) What is the most satisfying thing about being a writer?
If I don't write, I don't know who I am. I've always written, had dreams of publishing despite negativity from family. I worked hard to get my work to a place I'm happy with though I know I have a lot to learn.

2) Do your characters ever take over your writing and make the story go somewhere you hadn’t originally planned?
Well, yes, but that's the process, right? Getting out of your own way, erasing that border between the character and the creative process.

3) How did you celebrate the release of your book?
Prosecco is the celebratory beverage of choice.

4) How did you come up with the idea for this book?
I needed to continue the story of Hunter and Alex in the same vein, as a romantic suspense. At first thought I thought I'd send them to Europe, get involved with spies or something. But I always loved the movie "Key Largo" and the Caribbean, so we went south instead of east.

5) Have you ever written naked?
Only when it's really, really hot. Outside.

On a hot day in Waikiki, beachgoers are stunned when a tall, handsome man rises from the ocean. Striding naked to a small, ringed enclosure containing four huge stones most tourists never even notice, he becomes visibly upset. Author Bio: A.D. Ellis spends the majority of her days loving and wrangling two school-aged children and a husband before heading to the inner city of Indiana to teach a challenging group of alternative education students in grades third through sixth. Most days she hits the gym after school in hopes of running and lifting away the stress and headaches of the day before picking up her children and squeezing a whole day’s worth of loving and living into the too-short hours before bed. It’s no wonder Ms. Ellis lives for the slower, easier days she gets to enjoy on breaks from school.
Growing up in a small farming town in southern Indiana, A.D. is grateful to her mother for passing along the love of reading. With her nose constantly stuck in a book, Ms. Ellis became accustomed to friends and acquaintances snickering and shaking their heads at her love of reading.
A.D. never dreamed of being anything but a teacher, although there are certain times of the year when she laments her career choice. Ms. Ellis had a story idea floating in her head for about a year. After persistent prodding from a friend, A.D. put pen to paper and began writing her first story in October 2013. From that moment on, she was hooked. Taking the people and stories from her head and sharing them with readers is a scary, exhausting, rewarding, and fulfilling experience which A.D. plans to continue until there are no more stories banging around in her mind.

That wish comes true the day the Uttoran emperor assigns Peta to assist the artist who will be painting the great general’s official portrait.

Before long he is driven to possess the gorgeous young man who draws battle maps and whose naïve charm has won more hearts in Uttor than Arrento has won battles.

Meet the author: Tali Spencer delights in erotic fantasy and adventure, creating worlds where she can explore the heights and shadows of sexual passion. A hopeful romantic and lover of all things exotic, she also writes high fantasy and science fiction. If you would like to see inspiration pictures for her characters, or glimpse how she envisions her worlds, check out her Pinterest boards.

Thanks to a restless father, she grew up as a bit of a nomad and still loves to travel whenever she can. Her longest stint in one place was Milwaukee where she went to college, enjoyed a series of interesting careers, and raised three surprisingly well-adjusted sons. She later married her true love and put down new roots in Philadelphia, where she lives in an ongoing Italian American family sitcom. At least she’s learned how make good pasta. When not writing, Tali reads everything from sweet goofy romances to medical research, manages her fantasy football team—go Gekkos!—and takes long walks with her loving, if slightly neurotic, poodle.

Tali’s other books include the three preceding Uttor books: Captive Heart, Dangerous Beauty, and Adored, all with Resplendence. Her gay male high fantasy stories, Thick as Thieves, Sorcerer’s Knot, and The Prince of Winds, are published by Dreamspinner Press. She often posts free stories and excerpts on her blog.

"Thanks so much, Elisa, for having me stop by to talk about Victory Portrait, my new release. I had a lot of fun writing this book, particularly because I really enjoyed working with my favorite tropes. Tropes get a bad rap in some quarters, but I rather respect them.

When I was in the ninth grade, a most amazing English teacher gave my young mind one of its first glimpses of adult thinking. To children everything tends to be painted either black or white. Good or bad. True or not true.

This teacher, in preparation for learning Shakespeare, wrote “stereotype” on the chalk board. (We had chalk boards, which were indisputably bad because they were dirty.)

Stereotype. Good? Or bad?

To a child, we were certain we had this one pegged: stereotypes were bad. It was a time of peace marches, TV news, nuclear threats, civil rights and feminism. Stereotypes, we knew, were used by that murky entity The Establishment to put good people down.

My teacher pointed out that The Establishment was, itself, a stereotype. Dang. I hadn’t thought of that. She went on to lead us in a fascinating (to this day) discussion of all the different stereotypes we knew about, which ones we believed, and which ones we wanted to change. We had a great deal of fun looking at all the stereotypes in Romeo and Juliet, and talking about which ones existed then and still existed in our time.

Turns out stereotypes exist not because of some evil stereotype-creating conspiracy, but because stereotypes are simplified, often over-simplified, perceptions that may or may not be true—and they have roots in something that either is true or that people want to believe.

A stereotype is a cultural shortcut. We use them to say we know or understand something or someone, rather than take the extra time and effort to create understanding for each individual or event. We use stereotypes to understand something just enough—and no more.

Tropes, like stereotypes, exist as shortcuts. As a writer I’m particularly fond of the captive trope in romance. You know the one: virgin (usually, though not always) captured by a powerful man, leading to mind-blowing sex and happy ever after. I like to combine this trope with other favorites, like royalty or the alpha hero. Enemies to lovers is another fun one. The trope keys in on what’s at the core of that story’s relationship.

In Victory Portrait, my latest release, the captive royal main character (not quite a virgin but might as well be) is of course thrown together with an alpha hero and a bit of enemies to lovers. That is, to be sure, a vast oversimplification of the plot and characters, but it would be laughable to deny that these tropes are present.

As a reader, I use tropes to help decide what to read. Give me an alien prince, a little captivity, perhaps a billionaire due his comeuppance, maybe a sweet new guy in town meets crusty native who just needs to get the stick out of his… well, you get my drift. We all have our favorites, and we look for books that will give us those things.

Or, as is my case, I write them. Like Shakespeare, just not as good."

Book Blast: On The Outside by Louise Lyons

On The Outside by Louise Lyons
Publication Date: April 30, 2016
Amazon Kindle: On The Outside

Blurb: When Craig Ferguson is released from prison after a year’s sentence for fighting, he returns home to his father and brother, and the family business. Throwing himself back into the life he left, with family, work, and women, Craig tries to forget his time on the inside, but there’s one thing he just can’t get out of his mind.
Cell mate, Rocky Kirk, still has six months of his sentence to go, and after a year together in a tiny cell, Craig misses him more than he cares to admit. He does his best to forget, but when Rocky is released, and arrives on Craig’s doorstep, homeless and hurt, everything that happened between them comes flooding back.
Craig’s family takes in Rocky, now known as Kirk, and gives him a home and a job, but he’s reluctant to join in with their partying, and never seems entirely comfortable in their home. A few months later Kirk announces he has to leave, and when Craig presses him for an explanation, Kirk blurts out that his unwanted feelings for his friend are hurting him too much to stay. His admission changes everything, but Craig’s uncertainty, and fears of his father discovering their secret, threatens to ruin anything that could develop between them.

Meet the author: Louise Lyons comes from a family of writers. Her mother has a number of poems published in poetry anthologies, her aunt wrote poems for the church, and her grandmother sparked her inspiration with tales of fantasy. Louise first ventured into writing short stories at the grand old age of eight, mostly about little girls and ponies. She branched into romance in her teens, and MM romance a few years later, but none of her work saw the light of day until she discovered FanFiction in her late twenties.

Posting stories based on some of her favorite movies, provoked a surprisingly positive response from readers. This gave Louise the confidence to submit some of her work to publishers, and made her take her writing “hobby” more seriously.

Louise lives in the UK, about an hour north of London, with a collection of tropical fish and tarantulas. She works in the insurance industry by day, and spends every spare minute writing. She is a keen horse-rider, and loves to run long-distance. Some of her best writing inspiration comes to her, when her feet are pounding the open road. She often races into the house afterward, and grabs pen and paper to make notes.

Louise has always been a bit of a tomboy, and one of her other great loves is cars and motorcycles. Her car and bike are her pride and joy, and she loves to exhibit the car at shows, and take off for long days out on the bike, with no one for company but herself.

Blurb: Hero and criminal. Brute force and subtle charm. Jonathan White and Crow Belcane are polar opposites, but if they want to rescue the man they both love, they’ll have to work together.
After visiting his former lover, Crow knows only one thing: he loves Regis and he will do anything to reclaim him. But before his very eyes, Regis is abducted. Kidnapped by high-end slavers. Only Regis’s infuriating partner, Jonathan—a dangerous vigilante—is willing to help.
To infiltrate the slave ring, Jonathan and Crow disguise themselves as master and pet. As a slave, Crow is pushed to his limit. He’s chained, branded, whipped, and forced to obey Jonathan’s every order. But the longer he spends at Jonathan’s feet, the more natural his disguise begins to feel—and the more he likes it. As much as he hates Jonathan, they make a good team.
Both of them are devoted to Regis. Despite the overwhelming attraction between them, Jonathan is unwilling to betray his partner, and Crow is unwilling to come between them. But once the three of them are together again, all bets are off.

Meet the author: If you encountered Evelyn Elliott, you’d see a small soft-spoken woman wearing a sundress. At first, she seems like a perfectly normal woman. Do not be deceived.
Her hobbies include watching grisly horror movies, torturing her characters, and tending to her flower garden. She enjoys long walks in the park and collecting the souls of small children.
Whenever she reads a book, she always roots for the villain.
Avoid her at all costs. Certainly do not locate her Goodreads. Do not dare friend her on Facebook, either. She will only corrupt you.

1) What genre is your book and what drew you to this genre?
It’s an m/m fantasy novel. I’ve always adored fantasy—the adventure, the danger, the wild plot. And to be honest, the idea of a magician so powerful he can hold you down without even touching you seems kind of hot to me. That’s untapped potential right there.

2) How many days a week do you write?
Whenever I can. I have a busy schedule; sometimes it’s every day for a week, sometimes it’s never.

3) On average, how long does it take to write a book?
My first novel took me three years. My second novel took me one year. My third novel took me three months. So: it varies!

4) Do you have a trailer for your book? If yes, give us the link. If not, do you think you’d like to have one done at some point?
Trailers are amazing. I wish I had the skill to do one!

5) If I could be a character in a book, I would be _______?
Chartreuse the man-eating dragon. Food, hunting, snarky remarks, and the occasional barrel of wine. She seems pretty happy with her life.
