When Gay Romance wasn't so popular, I was already passionate about gay love stories, and the only source to fullfill my passion were movies. There are wonderful Gay Romance Movies, but again, I think I have seen most of them. I have also backed many kickstarter campaigns, bought DVDs and rented/streamed many of them. Lately, I was again feeling a gap... no more new movies out there for me. And then, without searching, something nice happened: I "met" G&T (Giulio&Tommy), the Italian Gay Webseries and do you want to know what is the best thing? it's free!

That is the point, the product is so good that I was all for paying to see it, and instead these two guys, Matteo and Francesco, authors, directors and main actors of the webseries, put it out there for free. The first season was low-budget, but trust me, you don't perceive that: I have bought many indie movies, with a good story but a so-and-so background work (sound, screenplay, actors...) and I have always reviewed them in a positive way since my starting point was, with such low budget that is the best they could do... and here we have a webseries that instead did well beyond that, it's almost a product I wouldn't mind to see screened on an International Festival, and do you want to know more? it has different subtitles, so that you can enjoy it even if you are not an Italian speaking follower.

G&T wants to fill a gap in the Italian market (but sincerely that is something lacking also abroad): a contemporary gay love story with an happy ending. Giulio and Tommy, childhood best friends, move to the realm of lovers, need to overcome many obstacles, but we, audience, strongly feel they will have their happy ending... and they will have IT! How many time we fell in love for "our" characters (because, yes, they are our own after a bit) and in the end, for many reasons, the author decided it was most "catching" to deprive us of the happy ending? I don't want to drop names, but I have at least three movies in mind. G&T will not disappoint you on that regard, trust me.

And now, for who is wondering, but do they dare, or the gay thing is just th flavour of the month, and the story has simply put a same-sex pair in an otherwise traditional relationship? Do not worry, they dare, and a lot too, the relationship between Giulio and Tommy develops both in an emotional than physical way, and when they got physical, it's like achieving an apex (pun intended), but it's never, ever vulgar: it was explicit, but it was like seeing a tableau from Caravaggio, passion and strength, dark colors and sudden light, it was arousing but also emotional uplifting.

I'm still wondering how those two guys managed such a good job with such a small budget. Season 2 is complete and they are trying to understand how to afford Season 3... if they will indeed crowfund this project, I will be first in line to contribute.

Writer, producer, director Jeff London (born January 16) grew up in a small town outside Bakersfield, California, called Shafter. Later his family moved to Covina, California, where he attended school. The son of a Pentecostal preacher, Jeff moved a lot as a boy, never having the same friends to grow up with. He can recall at least 35 different moves in his life. Other than location work, he prefers to stay home these days.

In 2001 Jeff formed Guardian Pictures Entertainment, a truly independent production company, creating movies with feel-good themes that make a difference in lives. He's done all types of movies, from drama to romance-even a chiller.

Jeff's interest in filmmaking started at the age of twelve. Each chance he could, he would go into the mall bookstore and read through one certain book about filmmaking. Jeff was raised in a low-medium income family and his weekly allowance of $1 would not allow him to buy the $30 hardback book he so desired. After six months of saving, working for extra money, and holding yard sales, he finally got the cash. He was hooked on making movies.

Keeping his desire, he continued on through school, helping in theater and the video department in high school. The family did not have the money to send him to film school, so once again life took a different road. Jeff found he also had an interest in motion picture special effects makeup and jumped at the chance to go to makeup school. But guess what, the $5000 price tag was not in the cards.

James Steven Handshoe & Jeff London, Engaged: 3 years. Married October 31, 2014

If he had made one minor change along his life's road, he would have never met the love of his life. Jeff and James married on October 31, 2014, after 3 years of being engaged.

Philomena (2013)
A world-weary political journalist picks up the story of a woman's search for her son, who was taken away from her decades ago after she became pregnant and was forced to live in a convent.
Director: Stephen Frears
Writers: Steve Coogan (screenplay), Jeff Pope (screenplay), Martin Sixsmith (book "The Lost Child of Philomena Lee")
Stars: Judi Dench, Steve Coogan, Sophie Kennedy Clark

If you are wondering why I'm featuring this movie when most of the movies I have featured in the past are Gay themed, well, you will have to see it, lets only say, that it's very moving, and that for a moment it had me in tears, moreover cause this is a life story, and so the events in it are real; as soon as I was back, I searched the internet, with the little hope the events in the movie were maybe emphasized to the benefits of the script, but unfortunately they are very much real. Unfortunately, cause I'm a little heartbroken right now, but very powerful and the director dealt with them in a way that was moving but not exploiting; on the contrary, sometime he was even able to snatch a smile to the public, and Judi Dench's performance is so good, not surprising at all considering the greatness of this actress.

I recommend to my friends to go and see it, and then go back home and do the same little search I did; meeting Michael and his story, and be a little heartbroken like me, but knowing also that Michael is a great man and his story is worthy to be known.

Now a major motion picture starring Judi Dench: the heartbreaking true story of an Irishwoman and the secret she kept for 50 years

When she became pregnant as a teenager in Ireland in 1952, Philomena Lee was sent to a convent to be looked after as a “fallen woman.” Then the nuns took her baby from her and sold him, like thousands of others, to America for adoption. Fifty years later, Philomena decided to find him.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Atlantic, Philomena’s son was trying to find her. Renamed Michael Hess, he had become a leading lawyer in the first Bush administration, and he struggled to hide secrets that would jeopardize his career in the Republican Party and endanger his quest to find his mother.

A gripping exposé told with novelistic intrigue, Philomena pulls back the curtain on the role of the Catholic Church in forced adoptions and on the love between a mother and son who endured a lifelong separation.

A new gay romantic comedy about falling in love with your best friend. From the creator of IS IT JUST ME?, eCUPID and STEAM ROOM STORIES.

Hollywood doesn’t make gay love stories…but we do!

We are Cinema175 – two guys from West Hollywood, California (actually we are NY transplants) who are creating movies and web series for LGBTQ audiences around the world. You may know us from our hit sketch comedy YouTube web series, ‘Steam Room Stories,’ and the award-winning films ‘Is It Just Me?’ and ‘eCupid.’

We love making fun date movies! Our next project - ‘The 10 Year Plan’ - completes our trilogy of romantic comedies. It’s inspired by Hollywood movies like ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’ and ‘The Proposal’.

We get letters from people all over the world telling us how much they loved our previous films and what it meant for them to see films that portray positive stories about the LGBTQ community. Your contribution will help us reach even more people – and maybe even change a few lives along they way.

With the success of our previous projects, we are able to finance most of the movie ourselves, BUT we need to raise $25,000 to hire our cast and crew. That’s where you come in! We’re reaching out to fans of romantic comedies, indie films and gay cinema to be a part of bring this great story to the screen. In return for your help, we’ve put together a great list of perks for every level of contribution.

Who doesn’t love a good romantic comedy? With your help, we can continue to make great films for everyone!

Link to the IndieGoGo Fund Raising Campaign:

‘The 10 Year Plan’ is a funny, smart, romantic comedy with universal appeal. It’s the story of Myles and Brody - two friends who are displeased with their love lives and make a pact to be together if neither finds love in ten years time. Now it’s two month’s shy of their deadline and both friends set off to do whatever it takes to avoid ending up as each other’s last resort.

Pre-production has started and casting is currently under way for our sexy leading men and women! We'll be filming once again at locations in Los Angeles, with many of the same talented crew from the first two films.

After rich businessman Paul Greco (popular daytime star Jon Lindstrom) retires early, his imperious sister Elise (two-time Emmy Award® nominee Wendie Malick) tries to get him to settle down with the woman of her choosing. But Paul seems more interested in developing his friendship with Andy (cutie Chris Murrah), a charming gay man he meets at a dog park.

Director: Jay Arnold

Writers: Jay Arnold, Thom Cardwell

Stars: Jon Lindstrom, Wendie Malick and Chris Murrah

Genres: Comedy

Storyline: Handsome daytime lead Jon Lindstrom, As the World Turns, General Hospital and Port Charles) stars as Paul Greco, an unmarried billionaire socialite who seems to have it all. Or does he? After Paul sells his business and retires he suddenly has more money and time than he knows what to do with. His overbearing (but well-meaning) sister Elise (the fabulous Wendie Malick — Just Shoot Me, Hot In Cleveland, All My Children) decides giving Paul a dog would be the perfect start.

With little else to do, Paul assumes the daily dog walking routine in the park. There he encounters Andy Chance (Chris Murrah), a young gay self-employed advertising whiz, who happens to walk his dog on the very same schedule. What starts as a casual daily meeting in the park, eventually develops into something a bit more questionable.

Andy and Paul find themselves in a series of comedic situations — due to differences in their personalities, upbringing, background and ages (not to mention the lack of clarity around their undefined relationship). This gets even more complicated by the influential and overbearing women in both of their lives. Elise senses definite and curious changes in Paul’s behavior and personality but becomes preoccupied about her own alternative lifestyle artist son, Brian (Ariel Shafir), with whom she has become seriously estranged. At the same time Andy’s adopted sister Roz (Natalia Cigliuti, All My Children), a high-powered art gallery owner, becomes overtly uncomfortable with Andy’s fascination over Paul, a straight philanthropist from an elite world of socialites and black-tie benefits.

This wonderful gay comedy is full of twists and turns. The elements of discovery, surprise and delight are everywhere. Through its portrayal of a unique relationship between two men, What Happens Next explores the meaning, definition and redefining of family and the nature of relationships.

Awards & Quotes “Features exceptional acting from a cast of film and television veterans, a snappy script, and a joyful tale of love.” — Philadelphia QFest

“An old fashioned romantic comedy in every way possible.” —

“If you like gay films, this one is charming. There are no sexual scenes. It is just a sweet story of discovery and acceptance.” — Suite 101

A tenderly romantic coming-of-age story as two boys in a British school fall in love.

Director: Simon Shore

Writers: Patrick Wilde (play), Patrick Wilde (screenplay)

Release Date: August 1998 (Edinburgh Film Festival, UK)
12 September 1998 (Toronto International Film Festival, Canada)
April 1999 (Turin International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, Italy)
20 May 1999 (Boston Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, USA)

Genres: Comedy, Drama, Romance, Sport

Storyline: Get Real begins with a couple of hedgehogs having sex, and deals with a topic just as prickly: gay love in adolescence. Steve (Ben Silverstone) is a student at a British school where everyone wears classy uniforms, knows he's gay, and is pretty comfortable being so. John (Brad Gorton), a top athlete and all-around admired guy, is just getting an inkling and isn't sure how he feels about it. This, cleverly, is how the movie manages to explore coming-out issues and be over them at the same time. In fact, the whole movie is pretty clever--witty dialogue, deft direction, nimble pacing, and clean editing--in exploring the seriousness of adolescent life without taking it too seriously. The key is in Silverstone's performance; he's a completely convincing mixture of hesitation and recklessness, all the conflicts of high school in one sweet-faced package. As the movie follows Steve and John's relationship--their evasions at school, getting picked up by the police in a park, goofing around in a heated swimming pool, grappling with coming out to the world at large--it lays out a bit of contrast with Steve's best friend Linda (Charlotte Brittain), who's as unapologetically fat as Steve is gay, and who's having an affair with her driving instructor. Excellent performances all around, funny, sexy, charming--if only straight teen comedies were half this good. Get Real even demonstrates the proper etiquette when soliciting sex in public restrooms; what more can you ask for? --Bret Fetzer

What if you woke up one day and remembered nothing of your past?

Born into an extraordinarily talented family, 29-year-old Michael Van Allen is the gay son of a well-known concert pianist and an equally famous painter. All his life, he has yearned for the talent and creativity that should have been his birthright but have somehow been denied him. When he wakes up in a mental hospital, his memory gone, his former life erased, his doctor tells him of his screaming breakdown during one of his father's performances. Van Allen's Ecstasy is the story of Michael's journey in search of his former self. As he pieces together his forgotten life, Michael uncovers jealousy, obsession, and secret desires that threaten to destroy his sanity once again.

How could you rebuild your life if all you knew was what other people told you? Could you ever find your way back to being person you once were?

''Tushinski's debut novel is a harrowing and compelling descent into one man's world of interior rage, self-reconstruction, and reconciliation with the world. Tushinski's prose, bold and transformative, demands close reading, and rewards it.'' --Richard Labonte

Director: David Lewis

Writer: David Lewis (writer)

Genre: Drama, Romance

Tagline: Some loves stand the test of time

Plot: An unfulfilled gay man in a stagnant relationship finds his life changed forever when he meets a struggling writer visiting the Redwoods Country.

Both original and incredibly romantic, Redwoods tells the story of an already-partnered man whose love is tested when a mysterious drifter passes through his small Northern California town. Everett (Brendan Bradley) and Miles (Tad Coughenour) are in a comfortably platonic relationship, which is held together by raising their son. While his family travels out of town, introverted Everett finally has time to himself—that is until Chase (Matthew Montgomery), a strikingly handsome writer, pulls up in front of his house. Shot amidst ancient redwoods, David Lewis’ (Rock Haven) film is a stunning ode to the power of love.

Shot in the gay Russian River resort town of Guerneville, David Lewis' new film is leagues more polished than his debut feature, Rock Haven and it's got even more soul, if that's possible. Redwoods will suck you into its warm cinematic womb and won't let go.

Director: Rob Williams

Writer: Rob Williams (writer)

Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance

Tagline: A romantic comedy about the hard things in life

Plot: Out of all the gay men in Los Angeles (and sadly, he's tested out more than a few), Glenn (played by Matthew Montgomery) has finally found his soul mate -- a cute Southern boy named Adam (Windham Beacham). Their relationship started, as so many great relationships have, with the personal ads ("GWM seeks LTR"). From the moment they met, it was instant attraction. Now Glenn's in love for the first time, and it feels great.

There's only one problem. Well, actually a few problems. But are they big enough to be deal-breakers, or can Glenn and Adam work through their differences?

Glenn's straight friends encourage him to stick it out and make it work -- after all, everyone's happier as part of a couple, right? Meanwhile, his gay friends tell him to move on and find someone they can all like.

Ultimately, only Glenn and Adam can decide what it takes to sustain a long-term relationship.

Long-Term Relationship is the first feature from writer/director Rob Williams. A classic romantic comedy with appeal to both gay and straight audiences, Long-Term Relationship celebrates the power of true love. Filming was completed in January 2006. Long-Term Relationship played at film festivals around the world, and was released on DVD in November 2007.
