Romance History: Valerie Sherwood

Jeanne Hines was born on 1922 in West Virginia. She grew up in a conservative family, but she dreamed about doing something more than to marry and to be a housewife. She wrote while she traveled with her husband between their five mansions distributed on the East Coast.

"Don’t write what you know–what you know may bore you, and thus bore your readers. Write about what interest you–and interests you deeply - and your readers will catch fire at your words." - Valerie Sherwood

Fine distinction in meanings

I think "conservative" family is what you mean.
They didn't like change, didn't want her to be anything more than a wife and mother. Although "preservative" is close in meaning, it isn't quite right.
But, hey, I can't write anything in Italian....
Hugs,
Irene

I think I remember her...

I remember reading Valerie Sherwood in the eighties... I think. There were pirates involved, if I remember right. Maybe.

I've read so many romances. I wish I'd kept them all logged like you do! That would make it so much easier. The writer I'm thinking of stuck in my mind because she dedicated two or three books to cats. Pirates and cats is what I remember...

Not that that's a bad thing. *grins*
