Yaoi Con Day 2

Most of the day was spent meeting authors and going to panel. The panel on Yaoi in Ebooks hold by Nix Winter was very interesting, in the public there were also Cat Kane ([livejournal.com profile] catkane ) and RD Solange. Most of my time I passed in the dealer room making some strange impression when I didn't recognize the author due to her pennames... Anyway, to the MLR Press booth I met Laura Baumbach, James Buchanan ([livejournal.com profile] eroticjames ), Jet Mykles ([livejournal.com profile] jetm ), Jade Buchanan ([livejournal.com profile] jadebuchanan ) and her G.I. Joe Boys..., Ally Blue ([livejournal.com profile] ally_blue ), J.L. Langley ([livejournal.com profile] jl_langley ) and Kimberly Gardner: they are all a bunch of well-known and very good authors. The next booth was Blind Eye Books, with only four books but with two great authors, Ginn Hale and Astrid Amara: don't miss the work of these two young lady, it's amazing. Not far from them there was the booth of Dreamspinner Press, and here I met Rhianne Aile ([livejournal.com profile] rhianne_aile ) and Clare London ([livejournal.com profile] claredivatoo ): they had a lot of books and free chocolates... so what not to like? Last but not least was the booth of Torquere Press, hold by Shawn Clements, Julia Talbot ([livejournal.com profile] julia_talbot ), Kara Larson (alias K.L. Richardson, [livejournal.com profile] karalarson ) and Pluto (alias Kit Zheng, [livejournal.com profile] kitzheng ). With Pluto I made my probably bad impression since I confused one of her work with one of Rose Meloche, and I didn't know that she writes as Kit Zheng...

When I was back in my room I had a lot of more books and a lot of beautiful gadgets!

I didn't see your boys!!! Who should promote them? I will return to the booth... Elisa

Wow, everything looks so awesome...and all those books, wow!

The only person I don't see is...you! :)

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
:-) I'm a very shy person! Elisa

In the pic with Clare London and Rhianne Aile at the Dreamspinner table - the woman in the middle is author Alix Bekins. :) Sadly, I could not be there. I'm glad you got to see some of the Dreamspinner girls!

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I spent a bit of time with them and I stole a chocolate! and also a bit of booksign. They were very friendly and they sold well. Elisa

Pretty amazing to see all these author's photos (^_^).

Love all the ball-joint dolls pics.

Thanks for replying to my question about the program book---I appreciate it.

[identity profile] zamaxfield.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
I wanted that doll on the top soooooo badly. He was gorgeous. But over $600- I still yearn... But I don't buy stuff you have to dust.

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
You have good imagination. I couldn't believe that Ginn Hale was so young. Elisa

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
I took a lot of pics to the dolls, I like them very much but they are too expensive! Elisa

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it was wonderful, but you are right too expensive and I didn't have enough space to display him. Elisa

[identity profile] chrissymunder.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It looks like you are having a wonderful time - the pictures of everyone are really great. I'm laughing because I keep checking out the books in the pictures and I have them all. wow.

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
So you have a lot of books! :-) Elisa

[identity profile] karalarson.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I might have to steal that picture of me. ;)

Y-Con was a lot of fun! I'm glad I got to meet you, Elisa. Of course, I'm happy to be home now too and on my way to the WeHo bookfair in an hour... ;)

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, you are an hard worker, two events in two days! Good luck for WeHo. Elisa

P.S. of course you can steal the pic!

AAARRGGGGH
I'm sure I don't remember you taking those pics of me *blush*...
I'm shy too (honest) and I bravely introduced myself to lots of new people this weekend, but it's really good to catch these photos and find some people whose names I never caught, or I didn't see at all.
It was such fun!
^__^

You look fine! It is one of the best pics I took. Elisa

[identity profile] kitzheng.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
ack, i'm so shiny ;)

don't worry, it is not common knowledge that i do cover work as pluto. um, though i guess it is now! ahahahaha. i just didn't want my art to outshine my writing or vice versa.

it was really great to meet you. and i don't mind being mixed up for rose, she's incredibly talented. i'm just glad i got the chance to thank you for your review of checkpoint in person :)

[identity profile] kitzheng.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
aww, please tell me i was not so shiny or chubby in your mind ;)

*powders own nose*

[identity profile] cicirossi.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
it was great to meet you finally! So glad you had a good time, and would it be okay to steal some of the pics for the TQ author list if I credit you?

[identity profile] eroticjames.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
but I love your work as Pluto...

[identity profile] rdsolange.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
The second I heard your voice in the Lynn Flewelling talk I turned to my roommate and said, "I bet I know who that is!"

It was so fantastic to meet you in person. You are lovely and sweet and I hope to have the chance to meet you again.

[identity profile] angelabenedetti.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yay, loot! Looks like you came out with a great haul. :D

Angie

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I was so embarassed I made the same mistake last year with Rose :-) Probably since I love both your works, without doubt you are the best cover artists of Torquere. Elisa

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
Of course, "steal" without problem! I'm glad to share my pics with all of you. Elisa

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks RD! I hope my "bad" italian accent allow you to understand me :-) Every people I met continued to say me that they "loved" my accent, but I don't know if it was a kind way to say that they didn't understand me... Elisa

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I did! But I'm also happy to be at home, I missed my home and my family :-) Elisa

[identity profile] kitzheng.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you very much! :) I'm glad people enjoy it. I think keeping it separate is for my own sanity more than anything else, otherwise I can easily start going "everyone likes my drawings but not my storiesss" or vice versa.

[identity profile] kitzheng.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks so much--that's really sweet of you to say!

Aww, Rose and I were roommates for a little while, maybe our styles rubbed off on each other ;)

[identity profile] astridamara.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Great pics! It was lovely to meet you in person!

All the best,

Astrid.

E-I couldn't believe that Ginn Hale was so young.

Nikki- Ginn Hale isn't THAT young. She's 40. The pigtails just made her look super-kawaii.

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, it is one of my fav pics of the event :-) Nice to meet you too! Elisa

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
Wow! What can do two pigtails... I gave her no more than 25 years... Elisa

[identity profile] kimnik.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, and just in case you're curious, the man in the photograph with Astrid Amara is San, who draws under the name "thepussinboots." San did illustrations for Astrid's Tangle XY stories, "Lord Ronan's Shoes" and "Remember." They're on our website. You should check them out if you haven't already seen them.

Nikki

PS-- I guess I should introduce myself-- I'm the editor of Blind Eye Books, so when I say it's on our website I mean it's on blindeyebooks.com

cheers!

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the info Nikki. I will check for sure your website, and soon also, since Ginn Hale is climbing my Top 50 Gay Romance list, and I want to post an "In the Spotlight" blog on her and her book. Elisa
