Back to the beginning...

Today I received a proposition! no, it's not a spam email from some dating site. The promoter of an Italian Literature Festival, with a fondness for romance, asked me to held a one hour panel to the next festival on How to Write an Harlequin Romance and Being Published... well, I'm surprised, since first I'm not a writer and so I don't know nothing on How to Write and second I'm not the "classical" Harlequin romance reader...

The fact is that finally, in Italy, Italian romance authors begin to have an audience (more than 90% of the romance in Italy is translated romance from UK and USA), and the Festival wants to organize an intense workshop to help them.

I think that I will accept the offer, I'm quite an ego-woman and I like to talk of romance, so... I need to dust off my Harlequin romance remembrance and maybe, if in the audience someone will ask me what I actually read...

Elisa!! What a great opportunity.

Even if you don't write, you know what you like to read. You're an expert in reading romance.

I hope you have a great time.

in the audience someone will ask me what I actually read

Stand up and say it proudly. Tell them how refreshing and beautiful male romance and love is.

EVVAIII!!! sono orgogliosissima, davvero!!! <3

That's so exciting, Elisa! I tell people they need to read your blog to know more about the romance and m/m writing industry. You are an awesome resource. I hope you can do this panel!

How WONDERFUL!

Why not visit Harlequin's website and download (and translate!) their submission requirements?

Do you have to stick primarily to Harlequin? That's the biggie, of course, but what might make sense, if the audience is big enough, for some enterprising Italian publisher to start a line. Even a small press, e-books to print the way Linden Bay does, might take off. (I would say why don't you start such a business yourself, but that's a big job and you might not want it!)

I'm so glad your work and enthusiasm is getting some big-time recognition!

If anyone can do it you can, you maintain a very large database and you have a very scholarly approach to the romantic novel on the whole... And you like it! So people will get as caught up in your enthusiasm as I always do! Good for you!

Congratulazioni! ^_^

Sarebbe davvero bello se, con qualche spintarella qui e lì, iniziassero a tradurre qualche manlove romance *.*
