Heartquake

heartquake in north Italy so strong that it awakens me and my home was all shaking for what seemed a long time. I'm fine, my mother is fine and the home is fine.

It was 111 km from where I live:

scary to see how near it was, but I hope that was not a inhabitated zone. Ferrara is quite an old city, hope they didn't have too much damages.

ETA: more or less all medieval towers and churches around there went down: Finale Ligure (tower), Levizzano (tower), Mirandola (cathedral), Poggio Renatico (tower). Some historical palaces. The more damage to people unfortunately are to those factory that were doing the night shift.

Good to know you and your mother are all right. Earthquakes are one of the scariest things on the planet. It's a shame about the ruined historic buildings, but far worse is the toll it's taken on the people who lost family, and their livelihood, with the destruction of the factory.

Take care and be prepared for aftershocks. Those too are scary but usually not as bad as the initial quake.

we had already two aftershocks, one of them was more than 5 degree. One at 15.00 and one at 17.00 today. Hope the night will go smooth.

I hope you got to sleep all right and didn't get knocked out of bed by any more of those aftershocks.

I think earthquakes are far more scary than hurricanes. With hurricanes you get a warning well in advance. With earthquakes you don't get any warning at all.

night was good, and I hope today as well since now it's raining and we cannot really stay out the home.
