Around the World: Singapore (A walk in history)

Five time a year, on special events, they open the old Government House (with Villa and Secretary House near it), that is now the President House, and the gardens. They are basically an oasis in the middle of the city which you cannot see unless you are not a President yourself, guest of Singapore, or you are not here, like me, on August 19, when it's National Day ;-) The other buildings and park are Fort Canning, not far from the first one, it's not a public park but in origins it was the place where the English colony built all their more important structure, on an hill overlooking the bay.

today is a real treat, you can see these buildings only if you are here in 5 specific days a year.
