Stiff Assignment by Skylar Sinclair
I think Skylar Sinclair believes in the fast and soon theory. I have read a book by her in the past, and it was a good story, but very short. And now this one: a good plot that I have finished in a blurr and in the end I have the feeling to have missed something. Maybe it's not a lack, maybe it means that she manages to tell us all we needed in less than 80 pages, but when I find a good story, I desire to remain with the characters for some more time. Daimon is a thirty something undercover agent and gay. And he has just made a huge mistake in his private life, having a one night stand with the major's son (without the authorization of the major...). So he is chosen for a very delicate and not regular assignment: he has to find his way to the bed of Jefferson Bartel, a fifty handsome business man with a preference for younger and well built man (like Daimon) and with probably not so legal connections with the Mafia. But when Daimon meets Jefferson, his cover is immediately blown away (one of the too soon and too fast aspect of the book) and he is put in front of a choice: two weeks with Jefferson during the which he can dig on Jefferson's past meanwhile Jefferson will do everything he wants with Daimon's body...
Skylar Sinclair has a very heavy foot on the sexual part. She is very graphic and very explicit. I don't know, maybe in a longer book, that aspect would have been diluited by the story. To summarize, I have enjoyed the book, but I think it deserves some pages more.
