Homecoming by Sabrina Luna
This is nothing more than a scene, less than 25 pages, and I'm perplexed. I like it but I feel like someone has stolen my happy ending...Mr. MacDonald is a 41 years old high school teacher for a private Academy. He is specialized in troubled kid, and he is known for his discipline. He is a very good teacher and he is proud when, every year, during the Alumni days, he could see his past student and know that they are now good men.
This year he will see again James, coming home after 5 years in Iraq. James and him share a secret: one afternoon, of James' last year of school, he has found an eighteen years old James mourning on the fact that he has finally admitted to be attracted by men. And they shared also a kiss, but nothing more. Then James left and this will be the first time he sees him again.
James comes to speak to Jack's class, and when the bell rings, he remains and now they share a lot more than a single kiss. And then James goes away and Jack is proud to see his past student like a man, and smiles. And... nothing more, not a blossoming relationship, not a promise of a future encounter, not an hope for an happy end together... I feel like someone has stolen my happily ever after... the story was so hot and tender, why I can't have my happily ever after?
