A devoted mother of four, Anita lives on a rural farm near Plattsburg, Missouri, with her husband Larry, five cats and three dogs. This former teacher has drawn upon her love for both history and English to enrich her novels.

According to an editor at Romantic Times Magazine, Anita Mills decided to retire from writing after her last book was published in the late 1990s to enjoy her family and cats.
