2020-2021 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: Frost & Raine

Frost & Raine by K.L. Noone

A unique twist on opposites attract pairs a divorce lawyer who is a Cupid and a coffee house owner who is a Frost. Both are nuanced characters who have misgivings about jumping into a relationship. The understated BDSM thread acts to flesh out one of the main characters. Seattle weather also helps to play up the drama between the two.

2020-2021 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: Never Underestimate an Omega

Never Underestimate an Omega by Eden Winters

This clever take on a caste system leans heavily on understanding hierarchy and one’s commitment to longstanding rules. While the main characters repeat over and over again how much they are in love and love one another, the plot it top-heavy with the omega’s ingenious ways to foil his and the pack’s foes. Calling this a romance is a stretch.

2020-2021 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: Book of Orlando (Mortal and Divine #1)

Book of Orlando (Mortal and Divine #1) by Laura Lascarso

Imaginative and interesting, this book plot travels from twist to turn, sometimes making a reader go back several pages or plunge ahead unable to make sense of what’s happening. More transitions and connections would help to smooth out the choppiness of this story.
