Master's schiavo by Laura Lascarso

At first, I was feeling sort of iffy about this story. Fortunately, the more I read the more I became sucked into it. I loved the dynamic of the characters, especially the care and tenderness Master's brother Silvio offers, and the sternness but compassionate acts Master gives Gio. This story also broke my heart with what happened to Master at the end. But at least it ends with Gio having Silvio and not alone and lost. The story is a mixture of satisfaction, heartbreak, full of emotion, and so much love. A well-written story that, after a couple of chapters, kept me up all night because I couldn't put it down. Well done!

Redemption (Men of Hidden Creek #6) by E. Davies

Excellent all the way through. Chad was a jerk and wants to change. Jasper was mugged in Houston and wants to forget. He and Chad meet when Chad offers free self defense lessons. Jasper knows of Chad's reputation but sees a vulnerability in the man that he recognizes in himself. The two form a friendship, tentative at first but Chad responds to Jasper's sunny disposition and romance slowly blossoms. A beautifully written love story.

Secrets of Milan (Night Flyer Trilogy #2) by Edale Lane

This historical fantasy is deeply evocative, with a writing style that captures the essence of Renaissance Italy and transports the reader into the world Lane creates. The emotional depth and sense of the character's internal journeys are evident as well. Secret Identity books can be difficult to pull off well, but the author's narrative style and tight structure make this a magnificent work. One critique: consider getting an editor who examines contextual/time period word use. If the setting is 1502, some of the words used in dialogue wouldn't be standard for the time era.
