I want to thanks all of you for the support you gave me yesterday. Today I feel a lot better and also I have received a mail that make me very happy. This woman doesn't know nothing of what happen yesterday and she write to me:

"Buongiorno signora Rolle,
sono la signorina ..., segretaria dell'associazione culturale Selva di Giano sita in Padova a pochi passi da voi. Il "caffè libreria" è un posto che attendevo da tempo, grazie per esserci.
Gradiremmo scambiarci informazioni nelle future date proposte"

"Good day missis Rolle,
my names is..., secretary of an cultural society site in Padua near you. The "coffe bookshop" is a place we are waiting a lot, thanks you to exist. We will be glad to receive the news of your future events"

is for this people I have opened my Cafe au Livre, and is for this reason that I struggle to go on. And I will learn to read more often email like this and not waste my time reading awful site.

I missed yesterday's post, somehow (yesterday was a crazy day); I'm so sorry to hear that the author was so horrible to you.

But I'm thrilled to hear that the people of Padua appreciate you. Small, independent bookshops are becoming more and more rare in the US, and they really should be supported, in my view. Good for you for supporting the new and less well known writers.

There's an American expression from the Old West--"He shot himself in the foot." It comes from a gunslinger who's not as fast as he thinks he is, and pulls the trigger before the gun's out of the holster--with painful results.

I think this writer shot himself in the foot big-time, and that's going to be obvious even to him before too long... and you were simply gracious and accommodating. I hope he gets over himself and sends you an apology.

thanks Lee. this morning, before reading the letter of this woman, I have called the publisher to say I don't want no more the books of that writer and to tell them what happen. Fortunately they didn't answer to the phone. When they recall me in the afternoon, I see the phone number and don't answer: I have no necessity to continue with my vengeance, I have that beautiful letter and all your kind words to feel me better. ciao, elisa

Good, I'm glad you've had something to show how much people do appreciate what you've done with the shop. And remember that there are a lot of English language authors who appreciate the work you've done in bringing our books in front of an Italian audience.

Which reminds me -- I've got the (almost) final version of Dolphin Dreams, so I have permission from my editor to give you an excerpt for translation. :-)
