Eight Nights by Keira Andrews

Lucas is a freshman in a little college. He is twenty years old but he has just began college after the death of his father, who was ill for some years. Not having a mother (also she is dead many years before) he is a lonely type and he is ready to spend the Christmas Holiday alone in the university's dorm. But the mother of his roommate has no intention to let him alone and forces him to join her family for the Jewish festivity.

When Lucas arrives in their New York town house he discovers that he has to share a bedroom with Nate, the 21 years old brother of his roommate. Opposite to his jock brother, Nate is a quite guy, handsome but not very a man of words. But Lucas is immediately physically drawn by him. Lucas has long before admit with himself that he prefers men. He has had two experience with women but neither with men, but it's a male body that awakens his desire. And sharing a bedroom with Nate will be a great temptation... and a great satisfaction when Nate reveals to Lucas that he himself his gay, but not out wih the family. So our two will spend the holiday making out in their bedroom and flying away from home to find some freedom, but at the end of the holiday? Nate has been very clear in saying that he is not searching for a boyfriend.

This is a short story, less than 60 pages, but it has hooked me. It's very sexual, Lucas and Nate make sex often, but, I don't know, I can still find a subtone of romanticism. Lucas is really at his first experience, both in loving and living alone in the world, and maybe he is not ready to do both. When I read of love between people under 21 years old I always make a mental calculation: how many years they will be together? And I don't know, I have always the feeling that it will be not much. And in this story, in only 60 pages, at the end you will have to answer by yourself to a lot of open points (they will stay together? Nate will come out with his family? they will choose what to do in their life by themself, or they will continue to do what their parents want them to do?...) but maybe it's also the force of the book: you can choose to end it like you want!

Nate is a beautiful character: he is caring and loving when you have to chance to know him. Maybe he needs to go out of his parents home to finally live how he wants. But there are good chance for him to become a good man...

If you want to give a try to Keira Andrews, try first Love Match: it's about two tennis professional player, one older and one younger. I like it a lot (you will not find my review, cause I have read it before starting my LJ)
