Take Me As I Am by Angeleque Ford

Well, it's always difficult to say if I really like a novel or not when it's less than 60 pages and a lot of the things I don't understand could be explained with a longer novel.

Jay Black is an Afro American disk-jockey; he has a night show with his best friend Pandora and one night he says online that he is still grieving from an heartbreak three years old. A caller proposes him a one night stand, only sex, not string attached. But when he meets the man, behind insistence of his friend Pandora, he discovers that the man is his ex lover Darrius (actually I didn't understand if also Darrius is an Afro American man, he is decipted with honey skin... not that matters, but a gay couple plus an interracial relationship I think have more trouble than not). Darrius is ready to admit that he misses Jay and he wants to give another chance to their relationship. But even if Jay has forgiven Darrius, he can't forget: Darrius cheated on him with a woman, and this, according to me, has opened the mythical Pandora's vase... Jay is not more sure that he is the right man for Darrius, cause maybe he thinks that Darrius doesn't want a man at all. Plus is it true that Jay threw Darrius out of their home, but probably he thought that the man was willing to fight for them, and instead Darrius moved on another city, and now, three years later, he wants to mend the things between them? Oh no, dear Darrius, you are a bit late according to Jay

So, in the end, I didn't know on what side I was; it was like a tennis match and I was the ball. Once I was by Jay's side, and I thought, "Oh that Darrius, grrr, what a CHEATING man", and then I was by Darrius' side and thought, "Oh Jay, how can you not be a bit less stubborn, don't you see I love you?".

Unfortunately the book ends quite abruptly and I still haven't decided who had the match point...

Thank you for taking the time to read my novella. And I'm glad you were able to find some enjoyment in it.

Just to clarify - Darrius is a lighter skinned African American man - think Terrence Howard or Michael Ealy as far as skin tone.

Ciao Angeleque. I have to say that your story left me eager for more. I like the characters and also the plot, but I think you deserve a longer novel. Do you have any longer M/M romance? cause I'd like to try something longer by you. Elisa
