Mr Right and Mr Wrong by Grigory Ryzhakov
There are various reasons why I enjoyed this cute novels: it reminded me a lot of The Bridget Jones diaries, and I admit, I was a fan of that series; it was quite romantic, up until the unexpected happily ever after; and there was Kurt, the gay best friend of Chloe, always giving the right advice to his girl friend, arriving even to test the potential boyfriends to be sure they are not gays. Of course it wasn’t strange that between Trish, her other best girl friend, and Kurt, Chloe wasn’t hiding a preference for Kurt. Now, the story wasn’t about Kurt, even if he has an important role in the plot, and I’m all to suggest the author to write also Kurt’s story.Chloe is managing her life as post-graduate student and two men, Terrence and Blake, both of them met the same day, after a long period of abstinence; of course, no one with their sane head will suggest her to ditch one man in favor of the other, not before testing them as possible Mr Right; Terrence is kind, well-behaved and with a steady job in financial services; Blake is cute, energetic and works part-time as DJ… the choice is obvious, isn’t it? You do remember Bridget Jones’s lesson, don’t you? Colin Firt is always the right choice… or not?
The tone of the novel was light, the mood funny but not extremely sexy: this isn’t at all an erotic romance, it was more a romantic comedy. Good choice to spend a few hours without tragedy and with a smile on your face.
