Kyell Gold writes primarily anthropomorphic ("furry") fiction focused on gay relationships. He has won a dozen Ursa Major awards for his novels and short stories. Out of Position also won the Rainbow Award for Best Gay Novel of 2009, and in 2010, his short story "Race to the Moon," published in "New Fables," was nominated for a WSFA Short Story Award. Other strange things he likes to write about include mystical decks of cards, superheroes, and sports; his "Dev and Lee" series (Out of Position, Isolation Play, Divisions) takes place in the world of professional football; his recent novel Green Fairy is a "gay non-love story with ghosts and absinthe."

He was not born in California, but now considers it his home. He loves to travel and dine out with his partner of many years, Kit Silver, and can be seen at furry conventions in California, around the country, and abroad. With his friend K.M. Hirosaki, he hosts a podcast about writing called "Unsheathed," produced by Kit, and although Kit and K.M. both enjoy a glass of wine, Kyell prefers Coke Zero to fuel his podcasting and writing.

Out of Position won a 2009 Rainbow Award as Best LGBT Fantasy and Best Gay Novel.

I suppose I already said it here, but Kyell Gold is really an excellent writer and you shouldn't let the ''furry'' part discourage you from reading his work.

I had never read anthropomorphic fiction, but his ''Out of Position'' is one of my favourite books.
