East Coast Day 8: Kennebunkport, Portland, Camden & Bar Harbor

This day was an up and down. I liked the small (but wealthy) village of Kennebunkport, but above all I liked the lighthouse near Portland. Portland herself was nice but nothing special, and instead I was quite disappointed by Camden: the village was nice but I was hoping to see some good overview from the near Point View inside a park, and instead it was a cloudy day, and so no view. We then hurry to reach Bar Harbor and the Acadia National Park in time to see something and instead we arrived that it was already after the sundown. Good for us we stay the night here and so tomorrow morning we can spare some hours to go around. Truth be told, I liked better Massachusetts and New England, even Connecticut, than Maine... maybe it was not the right time to come here, the lighthouses are nice, but see two, they are enough!

There is SO much of Maine that you are missing and yes, you did come a bit early for foliage, etc. Go HERE (http://www.flickr.com/photos/deenib1972/collections/72157608479681247/) when you get a chance. You're still missing SO much! (also, you're hitting all the obvious tourist places, which aren't necessarily the BEST places. It does make a difference, as does coming in land if you can)

Unfortunately we had only two day and we already left. I did enjoy the Acadia National Park, pity for the time. Today, in the way back in Massachussets it was all rain :-( Well, Maybe I will come back another time, and do the inside and heading further north also. Elisa

I hope you're able to someday because there's SO much more than the coastal areas and it really is very pretty here, even in the rain. ;-)

I hope so myself :-) Elisa
