Gay Commercial: HIM

HIM has a new poster campaign that is being promoted during the Olympics. The campaign shows the diverse and accepting side of Vancouver, while promoting public displays of gay affection. The posters will show images of gay couples expressing affection on various street corners in Vancouver. It is HIM's goal to put a gay couple on every street corner downtown (or at least a poster of one). Other gay guys can submit their public displays of affection on their website (http://www.checkhimout.ca/), so grab your camera, a friend/lover/stranger and start making out in public.

The text at the bottom of the poster reads: "Vancouver, Fabulous since 1969. Gay love has been legal in Canada since 1969, protected by the Constitution since 1992 and celebrated with marriage since 2005."

And since this saturday appointment is not the same without a video or two, enjoy the ad for Priape Jockstraps by TitanMen, with Dean Flynn. Priape is commercial partner with HIM for the above initiative and you can buy their products (if you managed to notice them instead of the man!) are available on Priape.com:

Priape Wear runs every year an international model competition to find the next spokesperson for the label. My Man Candy Tym Roders (http://elisa-rolle.livejournal.com/485000.html) from Vancouver (isn't he perfect for this post? He is even from Vancouver!) won Mr. Priape Wear International 2008:

Enjoy Tym in one of his picture, but then go to look his post (http://elisa-rolle.livejournal.com/485000.html), you will find that he is not only a beautiful man, but also a very courageous and strong one:

And the best things of the posters is that they are also so simple, just two men who can express love without fear. I really hope it's like that in Vancouver. Elisa

No place is perfect, Elisa, but it's true that my two best friends CHOSE to come here from the prairies. When one of my friends was growing up in Edmonton, a Western town I was born in (and he's about ten years older than me) if he wanted to visit the one hole in the wall gay dance place on Saturday nights, he might have to go through drunk macho jerks with baseball bats to meet another guy. I told him...You were insane! He said, I was horny.

But there is a laid back attitude here and it's funny since when I was dating my husband, I went to the same club my friends did (a gay dance club) because they had the best music and light show in the city.

Vancouver is the San Francisco of Canada. The prices of real estate can attest to that. ^^ I'm so happy about these posters. I had no idea! I will look for them now.

From somewhere people need to start, maybe Vancouver and San Francisco are those places. And funny that you learn of the posters on my LJ... the news went to Italy to come back to you in Canada ;-) the power of the net! Elisa
