2007 in Review

Gacked from [profile] adrtylilsecret

1. What did you do this year that you've never done before?
Something I have never done before? Mmm... watch a porn! Yes, it's unbelievable, but LJ has had a very bad influence on me :-)

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I have never done new year's resolution and I have no intention to do that this year, so I will feel no guilty not keeping them!

3. Did anyone close to you give birth this year?
Both my cousin: Pablo has had a little girl, Diana, and his sister Luna has had a boy, Ilan (that means tree, he is half italian and half palestinian).

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My cousin Giuseppe: he was stabbed to death in a park by night, on September 2. He was only 20 years old.

5. What countries did you visit this year?
None this year. I only went for five days at Matera, a beautiful city in the South of Italy.

6. What would you like to have in the next year that you lacked this year?
A partner, someone to share part of my life.

7. What date from this year will remain etched upon your memory?
None. The last year was not a very good one.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Unfortunately I have achieved not so much. Maybe the satisfaction I have received from my LJ and people who write to me to thanks for my reviews: they always surprise and please me.

My dream, Cafe au Livre, and to be oblige to renounce to it.

Everyone who has written to me when I have had a very bad period in November.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My ex business partner, a person I have met more than 15 years ago and I have realized to not know well.

Nothing really exciting this last year.

"Pensa", which means "Think"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsNSnmhfvEU

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
- happier or sadder? Sadder, I hope the next year will be a lot easier than this
- richer or poorer? Poorer on money, but maybe on 2008 I will manage to regain some of my money. Richer on friends, even if they are online friends (sometime the best)

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Travel and meet people. This last year was a pretty lonely year, but I have not mood to meet people.

28. Whom did you miss this year?
My free time, the excitement to plan a travel, the excitement to be in love.

29. Who was the best new person you met this year?
Only one? Impossible. William Maltese, Max [profile] maximvanziel, Alexander [profile] adrtylilsecret, all male, all linked somehow with Germany... maybe I have to reconsider my opinion on Germany? :-) Max and Alexander, I have met you in the end of 2007 and you have won on a lot of other people I have met!

30. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned for this year.
Be more prudent on sharing my soul

My cousin Giuseppe: he was stabbed to death in a park by night, on September 2. He was only 20 years old.

How horrible! Was the person who did it caught?

Richer on friends, even if they are online friends (sometime the best)

I agree! Since I work shifts, I don't have much of a social life in "real" life, but online friends more than fill the void. I wouldn't want to do without them for the world.

Max and Alexander, I have met you in the end of 2007 and you have won on a lot of other people I have met!

Thank you! I was happy to meet you and Max too, and get to talk to you more toward the end of the year. :))

Giuseppe was a very trouble guy, but he was also very generous and somehow naive. He collected money from his friends at a party and went to a park to buy some joints. He knew the guy who went to meet, he considered him a friend. Instead that guy, with another one, has killed him with a stab to the throat. They were 18 and 19 years old. Coroner said that my cousin maybe neither saw them, cause he was attacked at his shoulders. One of the guy flew away before police took him, the other one is now in prison.

> Since I work shifts, I don't have much of a social life in "real" life

And what do you do in your real life?

[identity profile] ashmedai.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Chris and I both work in a plant that manufactures glass. It's a global company that makes almost all of the glass on the planet today. Our plant makes panes for windows, solar cells, doors, things like that. It's a good job, but with a very chaotic schedule. :)

[identity profile] ashmedai.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
That is terrible, it sounds as though he was a nice person, and 20 is so damn young! I'm sorry to hear you had such a tragic loss.

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
And are you also able to do the glass in the old way? Like they done here in Murano?

One time I went in Meissen to see how they done porcelain. They have beautiful things there.

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It is unbelievable. When he was little I used to think how he will be like an adult and all the things I will be glad to help him to do. He was a very handsome guy, tall and muscular, he has a passion for basket and like fishing, like my dad (I lost my father 14 years ago) and I was waiting for him to be a little bit older to give him all the fishing tools of my father. It is a very difficult thing for me to separate from those objects, and now I only wish to have done it before. Elisa

I wish we could! Glass from Murano is art - I have an earring pendant from there that a friend brought me back as a souvenir, I love it. No, we make very boring glass for building, lol. Lots of noisy machinery and conveyor belts!

I haven't been to Meissen, of course we have a lot of their products in the stores here. But probably nothing in comparison to what you can find in Meissen itself.

I can imagine! I think whenever there is a loss, we always have some regrets about things we think we should have done. It's normal.

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I like to collect old jewelry (also bijoux of not more importance) and I have a lot of beautiful things made at Murano.

I studied in Venice, so I'm a bit proud of that city.

[identity profile] ashmedai.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't been to Venice yet, but it's one of the places in Italy I want to see. :)

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
When you will be here, if you'd like, tell me! I like to be a "cicerone" and I know a lot of beautiful place usually tourists don't see.

[identity profile] ashmedai.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no idea! Right now it's not possible because I have a 2-year-old cat who is so fixated on me, I can't travel anywhere. He'd literally die! I'd planned to be away for a couple of weeks last year and had to come back because of my grief-stricken cat! LOL!

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I know that feeling. My last cat, Mayo, I took him when he was two weeks older cause his mom, a stray cat, dumped him. He was very ill, he had a bad infection to an eye (he had a surgery at 6 months to remove the eye). I managed to save him and we can't leave him alone: me or my mom had to remain with him. One summer I wanted to bring my mom in Sicily to visit some friends and I bought an airplane ticket also for Mayo, cause it was impossible to think to leave him alone. Unfortunately he died at five years old: one night he was so freightened by thunders that he crossed the street without attention and a car hit him. Till then I have no heart to take another cat...

[identity profile] ashmedai.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
That is sad! Is the icon a picture of him? I know what it's like to lose a pet, I had to have my old cat put to sleep two years ago before I got the one I have now. I think it was the most difficult thing I've ever done and I still think of it often. I had to get a kitten as soon as I could though, we were all grief-stricken, Chris, me and the other cat - we're silly when it comes to our animals. The kitten helped us more than anything else though.

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, Mayo is the cat in the icon. I used to think he was the son of my prior car, Mandi. Mandi was also a stray cat I took when he was 4 maybe 5 years also. He was a wonderful cat, very massive and strong. My vet wanted to neuter him (they always want when they are stray cat) but I have no heart to do that. So when one of the stray female cat around the house had five kittens, and one of them was red like Mandi, I thought it was Mandi's son. And when the mom cat threw him cause he was ill, I took him in home. Mandi was 12 years old and didn't take well the new kitten in his life. And that winter he disappeared. He was very ill (he had the feline leukemia) and we think he has chosen a place to die in peace.

Look this is Mayo

[identity profile] ashmedai.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That's the hard thing with pets, you usually outlive them and know you have to say good-bye one day. We had our cats neutered since they're housecats and never go outside - they don't seem inclined to do so either, they like their comfy house, LOL! My old one was 12 when he died too - that's actually not that old for a cat, but he got sick too, some kind of liver disease that was probably genetic.

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. This last year was not a good one, I hope for the future.

And wish you a beautiful 2008!

Elisa

What a beauty! I love ginger cats, the red ones. Mine is a ginger boy too - I only have his baby pic.

I live in a little house in the center of the city, but I have a secluded garden, so it's heartbreaking to see the cats at the windows and not let him go out. Unfortunately they can go out from the garden jumping on the walls that secluded the garden, and all my cats, sooner or later do that. And outside the garden there is a street...

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It's beautiful. And he has a long pelt! Wonderful. Look, these are some of my favourite pics of Mandi, Mayo and Kerry (she is Mayo's sister)

They are adorable - beautiful! Especially the little kittens are so cute. The grey one - that face! Haha! Thanks for sharing these. :)

> The grey one - that face! Haha!

I took her by surprise. She was playing with her paws (she was very little) and I took the pic with the flash! Poor kitten!

Wonderful, Elisa! Thank you for sharing your life with us. Mind if I use the list of questions for my own annual reflection?

Not at all. Also I have snagged it from a friend! Elisa

Thanks Anne. It was a very tragedy and we still are broken. Hope next year will be better.

Happy New Year to you! Elisa

Wow

The guy who raps Pensa is beautiful!
We don't get opportunities to see "foreign" musicians in America...I guess we just have so many of our own, none of the ones from anywhere but Great Britain or Australia make it over here. But, if I'd seen Fabrizio, I'd have remembered him.

Love those sexy eyes.

Of course, I'm old enough to be his mother, but still, I do have two daughters closer to his age.
Sigh...just because you get old does not mean you can't appreciate a good-looking man.

Sorry 2007 was not a good year for you, Elisa. I hope 2008 will be better for everyone.
No war, no high fuel prices, no deaths of loved ones,
peace and understanding everywhere.

I can dream, can't I?

Fabrizio Moro is a new song writer, Pensa is his first success and it's about the importance to think and try to make the world better. It's a very beautiful song, and Fabrizio is a very beatiful guy, but yes, very young.

Thanks for the wishes, and Happy New Year!
