Gay Rom Lit Retreat

So, this is my next adventure in the US: I will go (yes, I'm sure I will manage to) to the Gay Romance Literary Retreat in New Orleans on October 2011. I'm planning to take a 2 weeks vacation leave, first New York City for one week (and I will wander around the city and out of it) and then another week in New Orleans.

Here is the official website:

http://gayromlit.com/

From the words of the organizer:

"GayRomLit is a retreat for readers and writers of GLBT romance. A gathering place to hang out with people who read the same books you do. Get to know your favorite authors in a comfortable setting, ask all those burning questions about the books you love, and meet online friends at a one of a kind retreat.

We specifically chose the word retreat, which by definition is a place of safety - a refuge for those in attendance. Unlike your more traditional Lit-conferences the GayRomLit weekend will be centered on celebrating the fiction we all love and highlighting the authors and publishers who continue to support the genre.

New Orleans is the location for the 2011 GayRomLit Retreat.

Please join us October 13 - 16 for the first of what we hope to be an annual event.

Lynn Lorenz * Ethan Day * Carol Lynne * J.P. Bowie * Amanda Young"

I will be there, and you?

And BTW, this is the hotel they chose:

Nice, isn't it?

I hope that you have a great time. Your hotel looks very nice.

It was not my choice but they told me it's very near the French Quarter, and that is basically what matters to me, I want to be able to walk around easily

That...looks about 10 times more fun than RomantiCon. And since I'm on the EC print list, already, and this is a non-publisher based con...

And I only live 400 miles from New orleans...

I just might see you there!

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2011-01-10 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Hope to see you there then ;-)

I've registered and booked, so I'll be there!

I actually stayed there once before for a business meeting back in oh 1994 or so. Very nice!

Looking forward to meeting you!! :)

The hotel is not so big, so I think we will have plenty of chance to meet. I will be with a friend and arrive some days before to visit the city and around, but I plan to spend most of the time of the con there while my friend will shopping.

I'm so thrilled to hear you'll be there, Elisa. I can't wait to meet you in person.

Same here ;-)

Holy cow. I had seen a lot of talk about it but didn't know it was for the fall. I wonder if I can do it. Would love to go to New Orleans. Would love to see some folks.

I bet you'll have a wonderful time.

Oh, that was me, Elisa.

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2011-01-11 09:11 am (UTC)(link)
I realized yesterday that indead it's not so far (at least not so far from when I normally start to plan my vacation leave ;-))

[identity profile] cicirossi.livejournal.com 2011-01-11 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
I'll be there!

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2011-01-11 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
So I will meet you again! We have already crossed path at YaoiCon 2009, but probably you don't remember me

[identity profile] cicirossi.livejournal.com 2011-01-11 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I definitely do, hon. I look forward to meeting you again :D

Good ZAM, me and you again then, you are one of my most cherished memories of YaoiCon, and Alessandra will be there too with me

Oh, I *love* New Orleans! The idea of going to a LGTB romance con sounds delightful!

Apparently, the readers registration will be opening soon. I think I might go? Hmm.

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2011-01-11 09:13 am (UTC)(link)
Think, think and then register!

[identity profile] angelabenedetti.livejournal.com 2011-01-11 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
I'm considering it very strongly. :) I'm also trying to drag the spousal unit along, although he would have no interest in the conference itself.

It sounds like fun, though, and I'd love to go if we can swing it. [crossed fingers]

Angie

I'm dragging my friend Alessandra, she is not interested at all at the conference, she will go shopping and visiting while I will be there

[identity profile] dementordelta.livejournal.com 2011-01-11 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds like so much fun! I know you'll have a fabulous time--and will hopefully send back a report!

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2011-01-11 09:14 am (UTC)(link)
I plan to :-)

[identity profile] elena-62.livejournal.com 2011-01-11 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)

Hi, Elisa!

I planned to leave a comment yesterday and then I got lost rereadind some of the stories of the authors you are mentioning they will be there!

I'm glad for you, it looks like a great occasion to interact with readers and writers and to see a beautiful place.

Ciao

Antonella

I'm glad they are holding it in a place I have always wanted to visit ;-)

I can't promise New Orleans right now...maybe.

But I'd love to see you again in New York, which I can definitely do.

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2011-01-11 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
it is a date, maybe you can come for a coffe or a dinner in the city. I don't think we will take a car this time (alessandra will be there as well), so I cannot come there (unless you don't have a good public transportation from NYC to New Hope...)

Thanks for posting this Elisa!

I'm so excited you're going to make the trip! I can't wait to meet you in person. : )

We do have Author and Publisher Registration open now, and it will remain open until Feb. 10th.

A few weeks after that, we'll get reader registration opened up.

Thanks again, sweets! : )
