Around the World: New York City Day 4

Today was my last day in NYC and I searched for those hidden places, out of the usual tracks (but I conceded a visit to the Rockfeller Center...) not always I managed to find something worthy to be taken as a picture, the weather was mostly cloudy, but colors were still in the air...

I didn't know the wall was still painted to like that, amazing. In the late 60s I worked for Scribner's Bookstore on 5th Ave and 47th St as a stock boy in the basement down the stairs. Patti Smith was a sales girl in the elegant, book lined store upstairs. We didn't have much contact; we were off in our own worlds, somewhere. But the store was beautiful, rows and rows of books not just on shelves but on small comfortable balconies you could go up on and read, spending your time. I recall that Scribner's allowed it employees to borrow it's books for one week and bring them back in good condition. I had spilled soda on Graham Greene's book, 'Travels with My Aunt' and had to pay $4.95, but a huge price in the late 60s, or some such, and grumbled that it was unfair...Oh, those were the days...Thanks for bringing that memory back. Have a safe but great trip!

my pleasure Mick; the wall is still there and the beautiful window also, but now there is a beauty store.

I love those pictures you've taken. My Rockfeller Center's picture looks nothing like yours ^.~
