Description

FEATURED ON NPR’s THIS AMERICAN LIFE!

When Zack Stark came out to his parents, he had no idea that his life was about to change forever. Stuck inside “Love In Action”-the ex-gay rehabilitation program-the quiet teenager blogged about their draconian practices, sparking an impassioned, nationwide protest to rescue the teen. In This is What Love in Action Looks Like, filmmaker Morgan Jon Fox captures the stirring, inspirational true-story of how religious intolerance’s quest to bully queer teens, lead to one of the first examples of social media inspiring change…and hope, for a new generation of activism.

My oldest daughter, Bun, is fifth from the right on the cover. There's a brief shot of my husband, Mudd, the bearded man with the orange sign at the 12 second mark. Bun is standing beside him.

That was our first activity with the larger GLBT community after she came out.

Elisa, do you know if this film is based upon a book? If so, what is the title? Thanks!

I don't think so Jeff, I think this was born from a documentary work on a case born through the blog of the boy.

There is no book. This is actual footage of real people (some of them my family) staging protests, of real people talking.
