Heartquake
heartquake in north Italy so strong that it awakens me and my home was all shaking for what seemed a long time. I'm fine, my mother is fine and the home is fine.
It was 111 km from where I live:

scary to see how near it was, but I hope that was not a inhabitated zone. Ferrara is quite an old city, hope they didn't have too much damages.
ETA: more or less all medieval towers and churches around there went down: Finale Ligure (tower), Levizzano (tower), Mirandola (cathedral), Poggio Renatico (tower). Some historical palaces. The more damage to people unfortunately are to those factory that were doing the night shift.

Cara Elisa,
I've heard just now about the earthquake.
Thank you for letting us know that you and your family (and your home: lots of houses damaged!) are all right.
Be well!
Ciao
Antonella

Per fortuna non è stato come a L'Aquila, anche se la magnitudo era simile

The photos on the news show terrible destruction!
Last year we had a very small quake, the first I ever felt. It frightened us all. I cannot imagine one so much worse...the report said over 6.2 on the Richter scale. That is horrible.
Be safe, sweetie.

Take care and be prepared for aftershocks. Those too are scary but usually not as bad as the initial quake.

I think earthquakes are far more scary than hurricanes. With hurricanes you get a warning well in advance. With earthquakes you don't get any warning at all.
