Just in case...

I opened a new account on Blogspot. It's not public, and it will remain private as long as this journal will be alive. I love LiveJournal, I know how to use it and I love my Flist page. So, I really hope this is not necessary... but if so, I'm backing up (manually since no one of the import-export tools work for me...) all the reviews and the special post, but I will loose all the comments (sigh!). It's a long way and in any case, all my reviews are saved also on LibraryThing, so there is no risk to loose them.

The new blog (remember, in this moment is private, you can't see it) will be:

http://elisa-rolle.blogspot.com/

I really hope this is no necessary, since I don't like the template of blogspot, and the blog is not pretty like this one... and neither user friendly!

Insane Journal works a lot like LiveJournal, without all the problems caused by management.

Yes, I know, but I'm not sure to want to pass to another journal, with the risk that also that close down :-( At this point, I prefer to go to something that it seems more steady.

Yes I'm doing the same - I did set up a blog there a little while ago but just didn't feel at home there as much as I do at LJ. However just in case I'm going to move my stuff over as well and hopefully never have to worry about using it to much. My blog is http://tiggerpuss.blogspot.com/ - I hope to get everyone's contact details too on my blog (although I'm also on librarything ) as I'd hate to lose contact with anyone.

Let's hope it's just a short term panic.

I'd like to know if there is something similar to the syndaction fee also on blog, so I could fee people's blog and journal in that way.

But yes, I can't imagine that LJ dies in such a way

You can save your comments and entries with LJ Archive or LJ backup. I have more experience with LJ Archive and I can help you with that if you need it.

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
The first doesn't work on my pc, it gave me a server error

The second is always full :-(

With LJ Archive, is the error something about encoding?

If it is, go here and change the encoding to Western European. That should take care of it.

Thank you! I will look. Elisa

The error is the following:

I got that error a few times as well, and what I did was start fresh with a new archive file, re-entering my login information, and so on.

I'm afraid I'm not a good enough programmer to help more than that.

I think that Wordpress.com, which is free, will import from livejournal. I even think it will import comments as well as posts, though I'm not entirely sure about that.

But Wordpress.com seems pretty stable.

[identity profile] joelyskye.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, that was me. I thought I was logged in!

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
But the problem is that I don't know how it works, it's really complicated. At least Blogspot, even if not pretty, it's simple. Elisa

[identity profile] joelyskye.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm.It was actually Blogspot that baffled me whereas Wordpress.com (http://wordpress.com/signup/) I found more straightforward to navigate.

But I realize that each of us finds different programs easier or harder! Good luck. And let's hope that livejournal sticks around despite all its changes.

ho l'impressione di essermi persa un passaggio... Lj chiude e io non lo sapevo o c'è altro? O__O

[sono appena tornata dal dentista e sono un po' rinco. Dio, come detesto i dentisti...]

Pare che abbiano licenziato 20 su 28 dipendenti della sede americana... un indizio abbastanza chiaro che qualcosa sta succedendo... Elisa

Decisamente una notizia che fa pensare.

[identity profile] laurazel.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Cosa?

I'm also playing around with Wordpress.com which has a much more friendly layout system since I really don't seem to get on with blog. Also someone has just mentioned insanejournal.com so I'll look there. I'm more concerned how people would keep in touch and keep their communities alive!

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I open also an insane journal... but really crossing finger that it's no necessary. Elisa

I have a wordpress blog that I just love. It is incredibly easy to use once you get going and miles easier to work with than blogspot - which I have tried this year. What a PIA! I had huge problems! Their help section is great also and makes life very easy.

BTW, I saw Shortbus a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. It was such a different and kinda cool film with much smex!

[identity profile] maximvanziel.livejournal.com 2009-01-08 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you Elisa. I didn't know about the rumour or, whatever it is.

I've tried Insane Journal, but there are some problems maybe annoying only to me :D
Facebook? I don't know how to use it yet. The same with Myspace.

In any case, I hope they'll find a way.

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2009-01-08 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
Insane Journal probably it will go better, but for once who is used to LJ it's like preistoric age. Elisa
