I don't know if being worried

Someone, somewhere, linked my Budweiser gay commercial post (http://elisa-rolle.livejournal.com/660099.html)... it's the only explanation, since today that post had more than 600 visits! Only that I don't know who, and this thing let me perplexed... someone on my flist knows what is happening? I lost some pieces to understand a puzzle?

ETA: Thanks to my anonymous friend, the mystery is resolved. I was linked today in an article by Seth Stevenson on Slate:

Well, thank you Seth, even if I don't know you, you send toward me a lot of people today!

I wish LJ had a set of traffic tools. [nod/sigh] You can use LJ Toys to count hits and look at IP addresses (I assume you're using that if you know how many hits you're getting) but there's no way I know of to see referring links. I'd love to be able to see that data; I have some stories on my other journal which get little flurries of his periodically, so I know they've been linked somewhere, I just can't find them. :/

My advice is to just take it as a compliment. Someone thought you posted something cool and linked it. :)

Oh, I take that as a compliment, but that number of visits is something huge, only with the Amazon fail post I had the same result. With that and my normal visit, today I had more than 1000 visits... I would only like to know who to thank for that. BTW they are almost all from USA, since the IP are all aroung USA. Elisa

So where is this "toys" feature? I'm not familiar with it....

Thanks!

eta: I'm sure all those hits will be good for your journal, Elisa! Free publicity.^^

LJ Toys (http://ljtoys.org.uk//main.php) is a third-party utility. The free version will show you hits and IP addresses, and country of origin, but doesn't show referral URLs, which I'd really like to see. I think the paid version sees referrals, but I don't want it quite enough to justify paying just as much per year for that service as LJ charges for a paid account, though. [wry smile]

Anyway, if you're interested I recommend you try the free version for a while, then see if you like it enough, and want the perks enough, to want to upgrade.

You were linked as a guest speaker at [livejournal.com profile] shared_wisdom earlier today--some of the traffic may have come from there.

Mmm, no, the entry pages is exactly the one above, [livejournal.com profile] shared_wisdom linked my front page. Usually my front page has the 30% of the traffic. It's all today that that post has the 70% to give you a comparison parameter... It was for sure linked somewhere and also from an high traffic point. Elisa

it's from slate

http://www.slate.com/id/2219871/

the traffic is probably coming from the above slate article about another ambiguously gay ad.

Oh, thank you! Yes, it's probably that. Now I want to read the article. Elisa

Sincerely I don't know what Slate is, but it has to be something "big" since I received a lot of visits thanks to that. Elisa
