I'm ITALIAN!!!

I'm Italian, my first language is Italian not English, in my profile there is the evidence that I live in Italy, I have never said that I studied English in a professional way, I always alert my English friends when I have to meet them that I don't speak fluently in English...

so please could you stop to leave nasty comments about my foreign languages skill?

IF you want to comment to help me, to warn me about a grammar error, to alert me if my sentence was bad phrased so much that what I want to say is not clear, you are welcome to do so.

BUT if you only want to be offensive, than go in another blog. First I didn't ask you to come here, if you did, it was your choice. Second, how many foreign languages do you know? When I was in school, I had 10/10 in Italian, literature and grammar, plus above the average vote in History. I graduated in Economics with 103/110 in 3,5 years when the time lapse was 4, and when the average in my University (one of the best Economics facutly in Italy) was 7...

Do you have the same results as me? If so, you are allowed to leave nasty comments, IN ITALIAN, on my LJ. We can play at the same level.

For the record, I still think your English is amazing.

Are you serious that people write nasty comments to you? About your grammar? Just how empty are these people? Go get a life. Preferably someplace else.

I don't know how to say "You go girl!" in Italian, but please pretend like I did. Don't let the idiots get you down!

Seriously, that's just beyond rude. I hate it when people do that, and I wish you didn't have to deal with it.

Thank you Zoe, you well know it's not true, but thank you :-) Elisa

My same thought. Elisa

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
It could be "Sei forte ragazza" (appreciation) or "Non mollare ragazza" (encouragement)... both versions, thank you. Elisa

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately it was not the first time, but today it was quite nasty, and I was not in the mood to let it go.

Thank you for the kind words,

Elisa

I love your 'accent' you have when you write. It's very dear, and I think it makes you unique. If someone can't take the time to find out more about you before they criticize, they're obviously not worth bothering with. Whether it's ESL or dyslexia or any other issue, having perfect grammar & spelling is not a prerequisite for being able to appreciate and even critique fiction. I can't believe after all this time, people are STILL getting on your case about this.

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. You are not the first to say that I have an "accent" when I write, and I now am proud of that. And yes, also I thought that, after all this time, people would have in the end stopped to bother but not, unfortunately it's not yet the case. Thank you, Elisa

Crap on them!

(Anonymous) 2009-10-21 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't listen to their petty crap! Anyway you communicate a hell of a lot better than any of those English-speaking assholes. Piss on them! And I'll repeat it if they're too stupid to understand... Screw them, I say!

People can be so jerky sometimes! I am Brazilian and I've never stumbled upon the sort, but I'd probably tell them to go get a life. Your English isn't bad at all, believe me.

Thank you Mick, you said it better than me ;-) Elisa

Yes, probably they need a better life and are envious if someone else get it. Thank you, Elisa

How utterly childish. I must admit that I get quite annoyed when I read incorrect spelling or grammar from a native English speaker since I find that those errors could be easily avoided but I am constantly amazed by all the wonderful friends I have made on LJ whose first language is not English and who have such an amazing grasp of it anyway. I wish I could claim such a facility with other languages. I am particularly impressed that you read so many books in English and write so many wonderful and helpful reviews and the odd incorrect word usage does not disturb me since it adds a flavour to your review that allows me to almost hear you speaking them out loud. I really think people need to find something else to do since they obviously have so much spare time to criticize you for minor errors which in no way detract from your enlightening contributions.

Hi, Elisa!

For a moment I thought you've got a seizure of nationalism. ;-).

I'm really sorry to hear that you are being harassed because of your English.

It is unfair also because you master the language very well.

Anyway, you just have to think that there are good people and stupid people everywhere. Considering how many visitors your LJ has every day you have to take into account that some persons of the stupid sort will appear now and then. That's the life!

All my solidarity!

Ciao

Antonella

Thank you Katrina, I know it's a long way to be perfect, but I think it's not so bad, and always get upset when read such comments. Elisa

[identity profile] dubious-virtue.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Mean people suck. I'm sorry, Elisa.

[identity profile] riaki.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
But I think your English is exquisite!

What kind of retarded people wrote those nasty comments to you?

Pain no attention to them ;)

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. I started to read in English since I wanted so bad to read books that weren't available in Italian. I really wasn't of the idea to post reviews, but there were so many books and so few places where to find info, that I thought my LJ was a good place. I have never pretended to be a professional reviewer and always hurt when people get nasty on me. Elisa

What?! What the heck is wrong with people? Rude idiots.

Reading your entries I could tell you weren't a native English speaker, but you're always understandable. If I could speak Italian as well as you can speak/write English I'd be very happy indeed!

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, the flag was quite big, wasn't it? Just to be sure people noticed... but I don't think I will put it in my profile ;-) Elisa

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I should learn to not give a dxxx, but sometime I'm not in the mood to let it go. Thank you, Elisa

[identity profile] mongrelheart.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm shocked that people would leave nasty comments like that. Please, don't listen to them. Your English is excellent, and I'd also say it's far superior to that of many native English speakers I've met who can barely put a sentence together, verbally or in writing.

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
My friends also said my accent is "charming" LOL. Always wonder if it's a way to say me that they don't understand what I say. Thank you, Elisa
