I'm ITALIAN!!!

I'm Italian, my first language is Italian not English, in my profile there is the evidence that I live in Italy, I have never said that I studied English in a professional way, I always alert my English friends when I have to meet them that I don't speak fluently in English...

so please could you stop to leave nasty comments about my foreign languages skill?

IF you want to comment to help me, to warn me about a grammar error, to alert me if my sentence was bad phrased so much that what I want to say is not clear, you are welcome to do so.

BUT if you only want to be offensive, than go in another blog. First I didn't ask you to come here, if you did, it was your choice. Second, how many foreign languages do you know? When I was in school, I had 10/10 in Italian, literature and grammar, plus above the average vote in History. I graduated in Economics with 103/110 in 3,5 years when the time lapse was 4, and when the average in my University (one of the best Economics facutly in Italy) was 7...

Do you have the same results as me? If so, you are allowed to leave nasty comments, IN ITALIAN, on my LJ. We can play at the same level.

Leaving you a German hug :)

That is my focus, to be understandable, I don't pretend to be an "english grammar lesson". Thank you, Elisa

Excellent maybe not, but it's enough that people understand what I write... Thank you, Elisa

Replying with an Italian kiss :-) Elisa

omg, my first comment here and just look about what!

Sorry if I wrote all this in Italian but my English in not as good as yours Elisa. Just want to tell you YOU ROCK GIRL!

Elisa

LOL well said. Some people are just ignorant. And your English is amazing.

I find most Europeans speak/write/understand English far better than we blunder through one of their languages. I'm Canadian so we have two official languages, French and English, for which I am very grateful. German however, is my first language, it's what we spoke at home. That said, I don't think I'm nearly half as proficient in either of my secondary languages as you are in English. Well done.

Thank you Paul. I should probably let it go, but then it's always something that bother me, so, well, sometime also I have my "bad" moment. Elisa

Wow, three languages... I have always loved the idea, but I could only manage to learn English, almost by myself (with reading and travelling). Elisa

Uh! :)

ciao

Wow, I'm so sorry someone would do that. I have had several long term Italian friends for years. I marvel at their abilities to speak many other languages. I don't have that ability and I know most in North America can only manage one.

Some people can be so rude and stupid!

Il tuo inglese mi pare molto bello.

[identity profile] peachette48.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish I could speak and write Italian as well as you can speak and write English, sweetie.
Don't let the bastards get to you.

I cannot believe someone can be so mean. Seriously, don't people have something better to do than be petty? Sending you lots of hugs from Romania! Scarlet

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Also in Italy the average is one, one and half... my English is my "half" ;-) Thank you, Elisa

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Grazie! From you it's even a better compliment since I know YOU speak and write two languages, and are very good. Elisa

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you Irene, even more for commenting on my little rant, I know you have more important thing to do that follow me on my bad mood. Elisa

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you Scarlet, from Romania, as from Brazil, Germany and all the other country it's evem more appreciated. Elisa

[identity profile] a-j-mirag.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you, Elisa. I know very well how you feel.

It doesn't take much to sit around and heal. The legs are getting stronger every day.
The thing I regret the most is not being able to concentrate on writing. Or reading! I have only read three books in the past three months.
Warm hugs to you.

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Wish you all the better and that you would be able to write again soon. Elisa

Grammar and spelling are two of my pet peeves. I get to the point of wanting to tear my hair out when I see misplaced commas and messed up verb tenses.

But even I recognize that there's nothing worth complaining about in your posts -- I can't write in Italian at all! So I don't expect you to have perfect English.

I'm actually really impressed at how clear and articulate you are in English, because in the only foreign language I know (ancient Greek), I can barely get by with saying hello and explaining how Achilles died.

And, as Anah said, something of your 'accent' comes through when you write in English, and in my head, it sounds lovely and lyrical. Definitely not something to complain about.

Honestly, what an idiot! I bet it's all down to jealousy because you've got a hugely successful blog and lots of readers, whereas nobody listens to them at all. Which is hardly surprising if they're that petty all the time.

I only speak one language and I am constantly amazed and awed at the people like you who can communicate perfectly in a language that isn't their own.

Sei forte ragazza :) (Copied from a comment further up.)
