I'm ITALIAN!!!

I'm Italian, my first language is Italian not English, in my profile there is the evidence that I live in Italy, I have never said that I studied English in a professional way, I always alert my English friends when I have to meet them that I don't speak fluently in English...

so please could you stop to leave nasty comments about my foreign languages skill?

IF you want to comment to help me, to warn me about a grammar error, to alert me if my sentence was bad phrased so much that what I want to say is not clear, you are welcome to do so.

BUT if you only want to be offensive, than go in another blog. First I didn't ask you to come here, if you did, it was your choice. Second, how many foreign languages do you know? When I was in school, I had 10/10 in Italian, literature and grammar, plus above the average vote in History. I graduated in Economics with 103/110 in 3,5 years when the time lapse was 4, and when the average in my University (one of the best Economics facutly in Italy) was 7...

Do you have the same results as me? If so, you are allowed to leave nasty comments, IN ITALIAN, on my LJ. We can play at the same level.

As others have said, your English is clear and also very distinctive. Perhaps because you learned mostly on your own, you have a unique and recognizable voice in English, and I love "listening" to you. I teach college students for a living and an alarming number of them not only can't write clear English, but can't be bothered to learn. I hate it when they express impatience with non-native English speakers in class, and I stand ready to call them out. Most of my Latino or Asian students come to my social science classes after years of struggling to learn English, and their efforts are impressive. They have a passion for mastery and put so much into endeavors that my more callow American students just don't understand. It's willful ignorance that drives me crazy, and that's what your anonymous commenter sounds like to me: willfully ignorant and dismissive of someone's passion and progress. Sorry for such a long comment! You are a jewel!

I agree with whoever said they adore your written "accent." I could always tell, reading your entries, that English was not your first language, but (a) I have no trouble understanding the points you make and (b) I'm amazed at how well you write in English. As someone who studied French for four years and still can't put a sentence together in that language, I never fail to be impressed by those who can pick up another language.

My advice? Ignore the haters.

My husband is from the Netherlands, so his native language is Dutch. I went through the same type of thing whenever he would post something on my blog, myspace page, etc. People would get nasty about his English. I'd tell them that English isn't his first language, and as long as I understand what he's saying, stop complaining about what he writes. Since moving to the United States 3 years ago, his grammar has improved significantly.

Your English grammar is just fine. Like you said, if they don't like it - they can leave!

mi e' piaciuto molto il tuo commento odio i bacchettoni o quelli che pretendono di dare leioni di vita (in questo caso lesioni di inglese)
non si puo' pretendere che uno sappia tutte le lingue del mondo e' tanto sapere perfettamente qulla natia (e penso che questo sia una bella cosa visto che molti non la conoscono) e se poi ne conoscessi qualcun altra (anche se non a menadito) deve essere considerato un un pregio e non un diffetto
Mi piacerbbe sapere se quei parrucconi conoscano, oltre alla loro lingua, anche altre e se bene come tu conosci l'inglese o e' un modo come un altro di aprire la bocca per dar aria al cervello.
Ultimamente collaboro con dei forum per le traduzioni e posso dirti che noi stranieri forse vediamo di piu' certi errori madornali visto che studiamo l'inglese in maniera piu' formale e ho visto certi "svarioni".............
cmq qual'e' il commento che ti ha fatto uscire dai "gangheri" in questo modo?

THANK YOU! I'm dyslexic and I have exactly the same problems. I had a huge rant about this a couple of months ago and nobody got what I was trying to say. You said it beautifully! It's the shallow that don't look at content and ideas, only the surface gloss.

Just ignore them Elisa, those sort tend to settle to their own level, down in the muck at the bottom. For a religious reference, wasn't there something about removing the beam from your own eye before you look at the mote in another's? People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones; the last time I looked, we all live in a glass house!

che maratona !!
no ora come ora no mi spiace e' un brutto periodo per me. Fino a fine anno sono oberata nel lavoro e arrivo a casa "cotta". Non riucirei a concentrarmi. Magari un'altra volta volentieri,ma uno solo se inglese non ho ancora molta dimistichezza con questa lingua (ho quasi consumato un dizionario nel tradurre i manga ^^'')

I read through two pages of comments on your rant, and I will have to agree that you do well, and even though I'm an editor, I would never think to criticize you anonymously! I also hear your accent! I would also like to suggest you download the program at http://answers.com as I think it is by far the most help you can find, all in one place. I have it set up with a little thingy on my lower desktop for typing in a word, and I also have it so any word I don't understand or want further clarification of I can "alt-click" and it takes me instantly to answers and their dictionaries/encyclopedia/thesaurus etc. etc. They are based in Israel and don't have many of the hang-ups that American-based outfits do in their treatment of certain subjects (such as herbs and sex), though they are certainly international in scope. I use them frequently when editing (fact checking), esp. historical novels.
