California Day 5: Lompoc, Pismo Beach, Avila Beach & San Luis Obispo

Today probably was the best day till now. Earlier this morning we started the day in a very "spiritual" way, visiting one of the oldest missions in California, La Purisima Conception near Lompoc. The Mission was beautiful and deserted, and there was a sense of peace being only us and some farm animals around. To reach the Mission, we passed some wonderful landscapes and the colors change in an amazing way. The rest of the day was spent hopping from a beach to another: Pismo Beach was full of surfers and it had a beautiful pier that allowed me to see them from near enough; Port San Luis instead had a very old fishing pier which hosted under it a sea lions colony; Avila Beach was full of volleyball players and the village itself was beautiful, with its old wooden houses in front of the beach. The day finished in San Luis Obispo, that it was more little than expected, but full of young students (probably due to the college in the town).

Tomorrow: Hearst Castel, Big Sur, Carmel & Monterey

Thanks for sharing your trip with us. I'm fairly new to California and hubby and I are taking off long weekends when we have time, which isn't very often lately, to see the sights. I love the diversity of the area, the beauty and history, California is a fascinating state filled with wonderful people. I'm so glad that you are enjoying your trip. LC

Beautiful pictures, Elisa. I'm glad you have been able to share them with us.

The sea lions are adorable.

I'd love to see pictures from Carmel. The town has interested since I was young. Perhaps from a Danielle Steel novel or something.
