East Coast Day 10: Sturbridge & Hyde Park

tYes, I know, Old Sturbridge Village is a tourist trap and I hate tourist trap, but I was also a fan of Laura Ingalls and the Little House, and so I couldn't avoid to stop here. Truth be told, we managed to enter exactly at 9.30, so the majority of tourists were still asleep and we had the village almost all for ourself. I liked it, it was fun and the actors were really in their role. After that we headed further south, stopping to see the Vanderbilt Mansion and the Franklin Delano Roosevelt home place in Hyde Park, passing throught the Berkshires and the Hudson River Valley. The weather was so and so, in Sturbridge was wonderful and not so good in the other places, but we still managed to see something. We also wanted to stop at West Point, but the route was interrupted, I guess what it was...

When it's not too crowded Old Sturbridge Village can be lovely.

You're definitely getting to many places!

I try to see how many interesting and different places I can. I love both old than modern architecture, and nature too. Elisa

In Hyde Park it's amazing how tiny the bedrooms were, all you could do was sleep in them and get out. I can imagine what the winters were like.

In winter you HAVE to cuddle ;-) It's a way to generate warm and other things too. Elisa

I continue to enjoy your photos. It is a pleasure I look forward to each day. I'm glad you found something to like about Sturbridge Village. It is the time period I like to make costumes for and interpret. My fiction writing is from around that time too. When I visited, I enjoyed the interaction with the workers. They seemed tireless in answering questions. Let's hope the weather stays nice for the remainder of your holiday.

Yes, all the villagers were very nice and they seemed really in the role too. Glad to know you like my travel, pity I have less than a week to the end. But I will continue to post once a week, on Saturday, on this and my past travels too. Elisa
