> Queries still Welcome

doesn't that mean that they still accept submission?

They used that phrase "queries still welcome" in opposition to "submissions closed" so I think that, if someone is interested a mail doesn't hurt ;-) Elisa

Queer Gothic and Love and Fables say queries are still welcome, and yes, that means they're still open to stories. "Query" in the context of story submissions means a letter which says, "Hey, I've got this story about [whatever] would you like to see it?"

With Queer Light, they haven't updated the page yet, so we don't know whether it's closed or not.

Queer Gothic is way past deadline (that one had a deadline of... July? somewhere in there) and I have to wonder what's going on with it, and whether it might end up cancelled.

Thank you for the useful info Angie. Maybe they will delay the release of the Gothic anthology. Elisa

I hope the stories they get are better than what was done for Queer Dimensions. Many of those were dreadful.

Queer Dimensions was their second attempt, right? Sci-fic is not really my cup of tea, so I can't really judge. I remember that two or three stories I like, the first one in particular, about the old age couple, that was fine. Maybe it depends on the submissions they had. Elisa

I heard from a friend that the editor was very difficult to work with. And yes, the quality of submissions might be an issue - but you only get the quality you can afford.

They are soon out with the first novel, Silver Kiss, a lesbian title from an author that was in Queer Wolf. Maybe with a single novel it would be better than Anthologies... truth be told, I'm not really fond of Anthologies, I prefer single author title, but I understand that often, short stories in anthologies are a way for new authors to approach the publishing world.
