Around the World: Moscow

Again another weekend alone in Moscow, but luckily this time there was good weather! I decided to go walking without purpose in the less touristic neighborhoods, or at least in that places where you usually go if you are an out of town Russian tourist with time. You will recognize among the pictures a strange house with a wonderful staircase: that is Gorkij's last home, I usually don't like museum, but if they are a real home, I'm all for visiting them. The pool instead is a public park where a lot of families spend the weekend, it's also included in The Master and Margarita by Bulgakov, and I was wondering why in the house near the pool (now a cafe), there were people skating... then I realize that propably in Winter it's an huge ice-skating track!

So jealous. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever be able to get out of the U.S. and see more of the world...

I was in Moscow in the 70s, under the Soviets, and it still was a very lovely city, if you can over look what the government was doing to its own people.

It's cheaper than most other European country, but it's not so simple to visit if you are not a good independent traveller, all the signs are in cirillic ;-)

What a great way to learn their language, in the land where they speak it daily, fantastic!

Oh, you found it! You found the Gorky house :)
I am so glad you liked it! It is one of my most favorite buildings. It looks almost surreal, something right out of Dali's paintings.

I was wondering - are you in Moscow at all this summer? I will be there again this July/August, and if you have free time and interested in going out for a meal or a cup of coffee maybe we can get together :)

For now I'm here until the mid of June. Thank for sure not until the end of July, since also I will have my vacation time, and I will go in Greece. I don't know if maybe there will be the chance to be again in August, but probably not so long as know. We are in contact so if it's the case, I'd be glad to.
