On Cruise, day 1: Alberobello

The connection is very bad, so I will post only some picture. Weather is beautiful, but I still feel like it's a waste of time being on a boat all this time ;-)

Trulli!! I had a teaching video of that region and have always wanted to visit. These are beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing :)

That's right, they are trulli and exactly the most famous village with them, Alberobello.

Yes, Italy, a very typical little town in the south, that type of houses are called "trulli".

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2010-07-28 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
It's lost in time, really, people are living like at least 50 years before.

What an odd looking little town. Any ideas what the symbols on the buildings are for?

Thanks for sharing your travel pics, I wish I can go around the world like you!

[identity profile] elisa-rolle.livejournal.com 2010-07-28 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
They are astronomical / magical signs to invoke protection on the house.

This place must be wonderful. Thanks for sharing with us. What do the symbols on the trulli mean? I am curious...

Also, I think your tag is wrong. It should be travel:italy ;)

as I said above, they are magical signs to invoke protection on the house. And yes, it's Italy, but it was a stop on the travel to Greece.

Wow, these are really cool, I've never seen any buildings quite like that before.

They are very ancient and typical of the South of Italy, the name is "trullo".

Gorgeous pictures!! I'm a little late to reading and looking at your cruise posts. I hope you enjoyed it. A cruise is about the only hot weather vacation I'd like to take. Unfortunately, it's expensive to take a cruise on this side of the world. So I'll just enjoy your pictures. :)

It's expensive also on this side, but it was my mother's dream and as soon as I could afford it, I gifted it to her.
