Whatever Happened to Laurie McBain?

Laurie McBain (b. October 15, 1950) was a best-selling U.S.American writer of seven historical romance novels from 1975 to 1985. Her novels Devil's Desire and Moonstruck Madness each sold over a million copies.

Many believe that Laurie McBain was a gentleman. She wasn't a man, but perhaps she wrote with her father. When he died, she quit writing.

Laurie McBain wrote a few novels set in less popular times. “Moonstruck Madness” is early to mid-1700s, along with the two sequesl, Chance The Winds Of Fortune and Dark before the Rising Sun. She also wrote a civil war novel which was one of the best ever written, When The Splendor Falls. Hers are not your average romances, but contain so much more in detailed plot, setting, and character development.

Elisa,
I wholeheartedly agree. As mentioned to you before, her "Tears of Gold" is one of my favourite romance novels. Though it's been many years, and I can't recall the full details, I still remember the couple coming together first in hate and then in passionate love over thousand of miles of travel.
I look at the picture you of have posted of "Lacrime d'oro" and a smile forms on my lips in fondness.

Lacrime d'Oro is my original and first book by Laurie McBain. I remember that it left me deeply impressed.

Pity she stopped to write so soon.

I remember her...

Too bad, The name is familiar. I always hate it when writers stop writing. I remember Moonstruck Madness...

Yes, it's pretty a mystery in the community, she suddenly stopped to write without apparent reason...

Another one of my favorite writers when I was a teenager. I think I liked Devil's Desire best, although watching... what's-his-name, Rhea Claire's guy, deal with the prospective father-in-law (Lucien?) was entertaining. :D

It's quite a mystery in the romance community whatever happened to her. I read a lot of positive things on her works, but no one knows where and what she does now.
