I want to be honest: I bought this one cause I like the cover! Oh, I read before K.B. Forrest, and I like his writing style (her? really I don't know if he is a man or if she is a woman), but fantasy setting mixed with demons and black magic is not my stuff.

So before reading I put the book under a test: I confess, I read some pages in the middle, to know how to expect from the book, and to decide if I wanted to read it all, cause it's also pretty long. I liked it and so I decided it would be my evening read. But when I arrived at home I found another book in my mailbox, one I was waiting from a bit, and so I read it first (it was a short novel, so I had still the time to read both). The other book was pretty strong, and sincerely as second read maybe it would be better to choose something light, and instead I read this one. And it's not light at all!

Aryazate is the abandoned child of a sorcerer in the Persia of 500 b.c.: his father has killed his mother and then he has abandoned him. He was lucky to be take in and raised by a wealthy and kindly woman, Nizami. Only there was a little problem: Nizami has disguided him as her little child, died of fever... but her child was a girl and so she has raised Aryazate like a girl. Obviously now there is another little problem: at eighteen years old Aryazate has long passed the age when usually girls married, but HE can't marry. Another problem is that, when Aryazate is angry, he unleashes some uncontrolled powers, that can make him accused of sorcery: and with the witch hunt that roars in the kingdom, it's better not to raise unwilling attention.

Kavada is a poor blacksmith that Aeyazate helps. He is enthralled by his beautiful lady, even if he sees that she is not a ordinary woman: she is too beautiful and kind, and she has powers he has witnessed with his eyes. And even if he is only a poor commoner, he wants her as a man wants his woman... but when Aryazate will unveal her secret, will Kavada still want her... him?

Aryazate is decipted like the classical cute uke, but he is not at all a submissive: he is a very dominant character, even if his strenght is not from his body but from his magic. And also from his behaviour, cause Aryazate is also a spoilt son: his mother has never forbidden nothing to him and when he sees something he wants, he takes it without asking. And this time he wants Kavada, and he "takes" him.

Kavada is a simple man. A man with the soul and the body of a warrior, but without the behaviour of a commander. He is glady to surrender without fight to Aryazate, and he never questions his lady. He worships her like a goddess and noone, or nothing, will change his mind.

The Sorcerer's Secret is a pretty complex novel, full of enemies who lurk in the shadows, and with some very unsettling twists. For someone who likes the fantasy genre, this is for sure an interesting read. And strange to say, I find that it has also a young adut feeling in it, like the classical adventure novels of the past.

Back To The Past by Jade Falconer

Noah and Ethan are two characters in an historical reality program. They have to play the roles of pioneers in a frontier setting, Noah in the role of the landowner and Ethan the manservant.

In real world, Noah is a software consulting and Ethan an history professor, even if this last has not the body to fit the real work, and instead is more in role with the fiction: he is a big and strong man. Noah instead is a classical pretty cute bottom. From the first time they meet, there is mutual attraction, and they will take all the chance they have to stay together.

The story is pretty short, less than 50 pages, and it's almost spent in describing the relationship between Noah and Ethan. There are only some hints on the fact that they are playing in a reality, and the outside world to their relationship is almost inexistent.

I like both Noah and Ethan as characters, they are the classical bottom and top, and as in almost all the stories by Jad Falconer, Noah is very pretty, almost feminine. Ethan instead, even if very strong in body, and with a dominant attitude, is also a very caring man, and it's quite interesting to see the contrast between a rough exterior and the quite deep interior of this character.

I think that the idea, the historical reality program, and the characters would deserve a bit longer novel.

Cold Hands, Warm... by Jade Falconer

Wow... this short novel is pure liquid hot! It's months I didn't find a story who appeal to me so much like this one.

Billy is an eighteen years old guy for the first time far from home and alone in a college. He doesn't the money to return home for a long weekend of holiday, so he plans to spend his time in his room, cause outside a snow storm is starting.

Billy is cute and young, with long black hair and a kink for eyeliner... really you can't not understand he is gay and also a pretty one. A really uke.

Paul, his roomate, is always out. He has a part time job and is always in a hurry. But also him is now stuck in the room. And Billy has a really crush on him. He is handsome, like a next door boy. And during the evening, Billy insinuate himself under the barrier of Paul, that willingly surrender him to the passion of this guy.

For Billy is the first sex experience, for Paul the first with a guy. But Jade Falconer manage to tell the story with a delicacy and a way to make it full of passion but also tender. Only a complain: it ends to soon, it is a beautiful one!

Savior by Jade Falconer

Ricky is a spoilt rock star with some attitude problems. And now he is also blackmailed by a nut fan. So his manager hires Jim, a bodyguard. And like in the better tradition Jim is an handsome man, very willing to satisfy every wicked desire of his new employer.

This is a really really short story, you can read it in a bit before going sleep. You have only some hints of Jim, and maybe a better idea of Ricky: Ricky is like all the vip, he doesn't know if the people around him loves him or only want to gain something from him. And when he finds Jim, a person he can trust himself, he is gladly to leave the command to another.

The Perfect Gift by Jade Falconer

The Perfect Gift it's like those old Christmas movies they make on tv during holiday season: you know them, you have seen them a lot of time and know how they end, but still you watch them again and again.

Jeffrey is a good boy next door. He was born in a little town in Northern California but he has come to live in the big city to find a work. And a work he has found, one that nearly makes him arrive to the end of the month and pay the rent; and for Christmas he has only two day, so there is no time to go home. He is ready to spend the days alone with his cat when, back home from office he sees an homeless he has never seen before. He is young and, despite the dirty, also cute and very lonely. He doesn't beg for help or money, he stays alone in a corner. The day before Christmas Jeffrey has no heart to leave him alone and under the snow and so he takes him home. And he discovers that "his" homeless is a man with an amnesia case and he is not only cute, he is really stunning under the dirty. Jeffrey is in big trouble cause his pity case is turning in a impossible and unlikely love.

Jeffrey is what I meant for Christmas movie: he is too good to be true. And he is someone you hope to find (maybe under the Christmas Tree!). Shane (the homeless) is strong willed but with a fragile body: his appereance make you want to cuddle him and at the same time make sex with him. It's the perfect match for the protectiveness feeling of Jeffrey.

The story is pretty short, 40 pages, but it's very romantic and "classical": a perfect Christmas reading for who still believe in love at first sight.
