Today started with Morro Bay and with the strange lava rock in front of the harbor... don't know if it was the earlier hours or the peaceful atmosphere, but it was like being in another world. We took the Pacific Highway 1 to Monterey and so we passed a lot of Vista Points, too much to mention all of them. The most interesting were Pietras Blancas with its sea lions colony (and pelicans and squirrel alike), Julia Pffeifer Burns National Park with its cute waterfall and Big Sur Historic Lighthouse National Park. We only passed through Carmel, since it was a bit late and we took the 17 Mile Drive to Monterey: the nature is wonderful but a bit tamed; anyway it was interesting to see all those '50 and '60 style big houses which cohabitated with an huge golf club and with the wildlife. In Monterey we spent the evening dining in the Fisherman Wharf, in a restaurant with private sight on the pier and again on pelicans and sea lions. BTW I took too much sun and now my nose is red tomato style!
