Anne Weale authored nearly 90 novels, starting with her debut novel Winter Is Past, a story that notably captures the passion felt by the characters while never slipping into overtly sexual writing. Her writing career began in 1955. She also wrote single title romance. Anne Weale passed away on October 24, 2007.

Weale, whose real name was Jay Blakeney, built on the legacy of authors such as Rosalind Brett (Lilian Warren), who emphasized intense sexual tension in her work. Blakeney/Weale, though she believed her writing was tame compared to younger authors, maintained her position as an author who pushed the boundaries of sexuality in her work throughout her Mills & Boon career. In fact, the author treated readers to what is believed to be the first oral sex scene in her M&B title Antigua Kiss, published in 1982. Weale also wrote a masturbation scene in novel Ecstasy, published in 1983.

Weale continued to innovate even in the age of the Internet. She wrote a regular website review column for The Bookseller from 1998 to 2004, a UK publication, before starting her own blog Bookworm on the Net. Her final post is an apology for the lack of posts due to technology problems.

Dane sees himself as a Dom. He is a young and successful businessman, and he is used to be domineering at work as well as in his private life. He is not born from money, but he is doing well, and he likes to show it, to prove that him and only him has done that. At 29 years old he thinks to have all, but a chance encounter in a bar changes everything.

Nathan is 26 years old and an artist. But he is not a struggling artist, he is from a wealthy family and he has the authoritative behavior of who knows well what he is and what he can do. Basically he is a good boy and so he is not the classical spoilt baby of too much permissive parents, but he is used to drive his life where, how and when he wants. In a scene, Nathan compares himself to a lake, with its peaceful waters; I would bring on the metaphor: he is like a lake in the a mountain plain: he receives the agitated waters of mountain streams, he placates them with his huge basin, and then he releases the waters in big rivers, ready to flow away toward the valley. Till now Nathan has never taken a lover with him forever, but then he is only 26 years old.

From the first moment they meet, Nathan sees in Dane something that no one never see, a yearning to be a submissive lover, the need to give up the control. Dane, even if gay, is a very conservative thinker: if you are bigger, older and wealthier, you are the Dom. And since he is bigger, older and he believes wealthier than Nathan, he doesn't take in account that he could be a sub with Nathan. But Nathan, probably since he had a pretty easy life, has never felt the necessity to follow common rule, and so he is ready to prove to Dane that he can be a real Dom, with the real sub.

Dane feels the D/s life as a way to prove something to the world, it's another way, along with his job and his Mercedes, to prove that he is a successful man; Nathan instead looks at the D/s life like a private thing, a lovers game to bring on in the intimate comfort of a bedroom. Becoming Nathan's sub, Dane will not lose his outside independency, but he will not, deep inside him, that he belongs to Nathan.

Probably of all the D/s books I read by Claire Thompson, this is the one I like the most, since maybe I'm more similar to Nathan's point of view on D/s: thinking on it, I always liked books in where the pleasure/pain games remain inside a private bedroom rather than when it's displayed in a public dungeon.

Douglas Simonson is one of the world's best-known interpreters of the male figure. His work has been collected over the past 30 years by connoisseurs in 80 countries. Simonson lives and works in Honolulu, in a private studio-gallery overlooking Diamond Head.

Kawai's Kiss

Born and raised in the dry, dusty cattle country of the western U.S., Simonson was encouraged in his art by his mother, also an artist. When he was 19, Simonson left his home town of Thedford, Nebraska to move to the Hawaiian Islands.

In Honolulu, Simonson studied art at the University of Hawaii and the Honolulu Academy of Art. Simonson also found time for an amazing diversity of experiences and careers, from sign-painting to typesetting to writing radio and television commercials. Then, in 1981, with the help of two close friends, Simonson wrote, illustrated and published a book called Pidgin to da Max, which went on to become one of the best-selling books ever published in Hawaii. Since then, Simonson has created or co-created 11 books, which have been published in 3 countries and in 5 languages, with a total of over 350,000 copies in print.

At around the same time as the success of Pidgin to da Max, Simonson began experimenting with fine art again — something he had not done for several years. Although he'd been fascinated by the male figure for most of his life, his own fears and insecurities had kept him from exploring it in his art. But in 1979, at the age of 29, Simonson put aside his fears and boldly committed himself to drawing and painting the male nude. It was a life-changing decision.

Simonson last art book is Brush&Camera, The Photographic Image as Inspiration, Male Nudes by Douglas Simonson:
