Have you ever wonder what happen after an happily ever after? Of course you have, and this is the reason why so manu authors write a sequel to a good story.

Nate and Kyle met in the previous book. Kyle was a nice guy with some problem of self consciousness and thought that some session with a Dom, in a very exclusive club, could help him to better understand his own persona. The chosen Dom is the best the house could offer, Nate; Nate is not only a perfect Dom, he is also a psych major and in a point in his life where his profession as paid Dom is not enough for him. Finding Kyle and helping him to be the real man he knew he can be was only a pleasure, more since it drew Kyle into his life and bed.

Two years later Nate and Kyle are still an happy couple, but Kyle is still somewhat naivee to all the possibilities in their relationship. When Nate spies an interesting reaction of Kyle on a threesome tale, he thinks to organize a nice surprise to him: a weekend in an isolated cabin with a male escort to fullfill all their desires. But Kyle's reaction is not what Nate expects: oh, don't get me wrong, Kyle is not so much worried on the threesome in itself, but since he had a bad breakup with his former boyfriend after the man behaved pretty bad during a threesome. And so Kyle, in his mind, probably matches threesome with trouble.

When Kyle realizes that Dakota, the escort, his not an innocent man in need of whoring himself to survive, he changes a bit his mind. More he starts to worry more for his reactions to the man, than for Nate's behavior. Step by step he allows Dakota to enter their bad, drawing a line on anal intercourse, but more or less allowing everything else. Even if he likes Dakota as a man outside the bedroom, in bed Kyle treats him more like a high paid toy. At the end of the weekend, Kyle understands that the man he loves his Nate and that even if he physically wants another man, this doesn't mean that he is cheating on Nate, above all since Nate is there with him to share everything... well said that, I don't know if I like the fact that Kyle lost his innocence...

This is really a sweet story; it's divided in three part, three different period of Clive's life: 1955 when he is a teen and the seeds of his love for Philip blossom in his heart without him realizes it; in 1964 when he is a young man and he can finally reach for his lover; and in 1974 when they are both adult men with a quite and warm love story between them.

Clive meets Philip, Mr Osborne at his prep school; Clive is 16 years old and Philip 27, but at that time Clive doesn't realize that it's love that pushes him toward his history professor and he pours out all his love in the studying. When he is 25 years old and a young professor in the same school, he finally is able to admit that all the feelings he feels for Philip are real love and that his feelings are reciprocated by Philip, who never once in the past has allowed to his love to be seen. Only when Clive is enough adult and mature to make a conscious and aware decision, only then Philip allows to himself to show to Clive another side of himself, a very personal and tender side. Ten years later we have a glimpse on Philip and Clive's relationship, lead with discretion and all the quite possible, in the same buildings which saw its birth.

I like very much the atmosphere of this tale, a very sweet romance, that, even if didn't show us any hint of sex, it's full of sensuality. The love is all in the little signs that Clive sends to Philip, and in the quite and gentle behavior of Philip, which is full of warmness even if it's not hot.

For me a very good first taste of a new author who for sure I will follow in the future.

A police siren sounds and a motorcycle cop dismounts from his bike after just pulling a vehicle over.

Without a word, he starts writing in his pad, looking the vehicle up and down, walking very macho-ly from the front to the rear. The handsome man in the vehicle sits quietly and nervously. With a stone face behind his reflective sunglasses, the cop silently hands the driver his ticket and the cop rides away.

The young man looks down mystified -- the "ticket" is instead the cop's phone number.

Grave Heart is part of a multi-authored series by Loose Id about a collector who is trying to rebuild a totem collecting the different pieces all around the world. Every piece's recollection brings a different story, that could be of different genre, contemporary, paranormal, hetero and gay. The one written by Emily Veinglory is a gay romance, but not overall erotic. Kieran is the man hired to convince the actual owner of a stone to willingly give up it to the collector; how he manages to convince the man, is only his problem. Kieran decides to approach Joshua with a business proposal to then move the transaction to a more personal level; he is a bit surprise when Joshua reveals to be an easier target then expected, not giving so much problem to Kieran to enter his life and his bed. But when Joshua realizes that Kieran has not personal reason to retrieve the stone, his behavior changes suddenly.

There is a strange feeling in the story: there are very highly moving events that happen and has happened in the past, but in a way all the story has almost a detached feeling. It could seem strange but it's the right mood for the story since Kieran has great emotional issue, he has locked his heart and his emotions with it, years before, and his way to approach the life is reflected in the way the book approaches the reader: not full front emotion, but a sideline game to infiltrate the enemy line. And in the end, both Kieran and the book will reach their target only to find out that the intended target were them.
