Carin Rafferty (real name Linda Kichline) grew up in Colorado, but she lived all over the country. She returned to Colorado a few years ago, and she hopes to permanently move to Arizona in the next few years. She started her writing career writing as Allyson Ryan for Silhouette Books, and then she wrote several books for Harlequin Books. She wrote her Sanctuary witch and warlock series for the Topaz Dreamspun line. ImaJinn Books, a publisher specialized in romance books dealing with the supernatural, paranormal, fantasy, futuristic, and time travel that she launched after a temporarly break in her writing career, is reprinting the three Sanctuary books. She hasn't started woking on a new Sanctuary book, but she is playing around with some ideas. If you have favorite characters in the first three books that you'd like to see in new books, let her know who they are. She is currently working on an Urban Fantasy and a straight suspense novel.

Stroke of Luck is a novella with the same characters Jourdan Lane used in a previous anthology, Cowboy Up, that I haven't read. But I don't feel like something is missing, since the story is quite nice as it is. It's a "classical" contemporary western tale, with cowboys who are the real type, not the fake commercial one: there is dust and sweat and fatigue, but at the end, there is also the small town way of life, where everyone knows everyone and where your neighbor wants to help you, not to harm you.

Dale and Brandt probably didn't have an easy start, this you can understand from some hints in the story, but now their life is pretty good: the ranch is going well, there is a lot of work but also their share of compensation, and as I said, even if they work hard, at night they are together in the comfort of their house. It's not all idyllic, they fight a lot, but it's that type of fight that doesn't matter, upon irrelevant things, and the morning after it's all forgotten. Dale learned to accept Brandt's tough behavior and Brandt learned to accept the up and down of Dale's character.

But there are still things that make them fight them a lot, as when Dale takes decision he should consult Brandt before doing so. This time he decides to take home Evan, an old friend of him in deer need of a shelter; all right Evan was raped and he is clear out of luck, but still it would be enough for Evan to call Brandt before instead of going straight for his road. And so Brandt pulls out his silent rage more as demonstration than really feeling it.

The story is not very long and there are not a lot of turns in it, but what it's really nice is the atmosphere: I like as Brandt and Dale are not the perfect happily ever after couple, yes, they are happy, but more than star crossed lover, their relationship is built upon a good play of balance between their two different characters; the reader knows that it was not, and it will be not, easy for them, but since there is something strong and steady between them, whatever will happen, they will manage to stay together.

This a  very short story less than 20 pages and a D / s' story. Actually it's not really an hard core type of BDSM's story, I read a lot more in the past; in this one the main characters limit themself to some spanking (all right, with a paddle, but still only spanking) and some power games, like "you can only come when I said it". The main reason for it to be a D / s' story is to test the relationship between the heroes, and the trust there is between a Master and his submissive.

Deke made a very big mistake: lacking in trust completely his Master, he preferred to cheat on him to stir up the obviously consequence, being banished from his life. But a month later, on Valentine's Day, Deke is ready to beg his Master, Val (as for Valentine) to take him back; he realized that living without Val is a lot harder than trust him completely. Truth be told, it's not so difficult to convince Valentine to give him another chance.

I have the feeling that nor Deke or Valentine are really into the whole BDSM's world. They are more "players", they like to play the role of Master and submissive, but no one of them is really into the pain thing. What Val does to Deke to punish him, for other more convinced BDSM couple will be a more appetizer. And then Valentine never pushes Deke till his limit to test the boundaries, he never makes Deke admit that he is a submissive to Val's love; what Deke does it's exactly what Deke wants to do.

It's quite hard to accept that Val forgives Deke's cheat so easily, but then probably you have to consider that Val loves Deke. Val's family is not so accepting of their son, and in Deke Val not only found a lover, but also a family, since he almost "adopted" also Deke's mother. Letting Deke go, means loosing not only a lover, but also the fragile stability that Val managed to build in his new life. Considering this, probably it's not so strange that Val is so ready, almost eager, to forgive Deke.

Today I have two reasons to apologize: first I will post in an unusual time than my habit, since I have some day life appointments that will prevent me to be online as usual... but the good news is that I will post my man candy a bit earlier! The second reason is that I really try to choose only some pics to post of the today man candy, but the shot is so beautiful, and the man is so wonderful, that I really can't avoid to post all the photos... and so click on the cut only if you are ready to be drowned in beautiful images!

This week I would like you to present David Gandy, probably the most famous face for D&G. In Italy he was all above the magazine and in street ad with his skimpy white swimsuit and on the background one of our most beautiful seaside places, i Faraglioni, to promote D&G perfume. Later on David Gandy was again the "face" of Dolce&Gabbana's newest underwear collection and was featured in their 2008 calendar by Mariano Vivanco. The calendar was available only for selected customers, so now, it's my pleasure to show you this treasure:

more pics - WARNING: A LOT )

David Gandy (Billericay, February 18, 1980) is a british model. David says: “People are always surprised when I speak. They can’t believe I am a born-and-bred Essex boy. Everyone asks me if there is Mediterranean in my blood, but my mum (Judy)’s ancestors are Scottish and my dad (Robert) is from East London.”

After David graduating from the University Of Gloucestershire in 2001 in Marketing, his mates secretly entered him into a male model competition. He began to modelling in 2001 for Public Image Worldwide agency, then he signed with London agency Select, and in few years he reached the supermodel status knowing internationally as testimonial for Dolce&Gabbana Light Blue perfume and he appears in the ad commercial for D&G underwear.

He appears also in ad commercial for Stefanel, Carolina Herrera, Ermenegildo Zegna and he is the face for the Fall/Winter 2008-2009 for Massimo Dutti. He shot with Mario Testino for Vogue, where he was Superman. In February 2009 he was special guest during Italian music contest Sanremo.

“People tell me women are going crazy. But it’s not like I’ve got them screaming and running after me in the street.” David is single after splitting up with his model lover of three years. “Everyone’s looking for love but all the travelling I do means it’s difficult to have a stable relationship. At the moment work is my main interest but if the right lady came along . . . I like classically beautiful women, but she has to have a bad sense of humour to laugh at my jokes. I don’t like a very, very skinny girl. I find it quite off-putting and a little bit upsetting as they can’t be that healthy. I like my women to be womanly.”
